Need opinions on a buyer/after sale

I wouldn't want to hypothesize, but humidity and motion can do many things. He did say he was a few hours away. Especially if it's just a paint crack. Even temperature differentials can do weird things. From my experience.

Looks a lot more extreme now. He only briefly looked it over cause he had an appointment. Now he has an appointment with disappointment.

I’m leaning towards this.. it not like I shipped it & it got damaged, not do I have the knowledge, time or energy to edit photos

I tried to get the best angle showing what looked to be a scratch. I don’t hide stuff in my listings- cuz crap like this drains me. I want a clean sale, & be done. One reason I hate shipping these days- stresses me out until it gets there in one piece.

totally understand man, you obviously weren't trying to hide anything with that closeup you took with good lighting. That's why I suggested meeting him halfway, but it's really up to you since it was an in person deal. Definitely could have dropped it or had a rough ride home. Having case damage isn't a good sign.
 
I would say because your picture was so clear, and did not show that crack as pronounced as it was such a short time later (especially being an older guitar and the crack hasn't moved in all those years)...the deal is done.

My hypothess is he tried taking the neck off or dropped it.
 
I deal with Appliances. If a Vender delivers a smashed up Unit but you don't catch it by the time they leave the House, it's to bad so sad, call the manufacturer.
In this case it's non repairable out of warranty.. LOL

This is what I’m thinking. He got the guitar home, took it apart to clean and setup. Tightened the neck and boom, made the crack worse. Now he is trying to cover his tracks. $50 was reasonable. To make it all go away, I offer $100 or nothing. I know it sucks, but he could dox you and cause all kinds of trouble in the future.

Look very carefully where the body/neck pocket touches up against the neck in your pics vs what it looks like in his pic. I looked at them very closely and it's obvious something additional happened when it was in his possession. I wouldn't refund anything.

He doesn't like the guitar. Block him. Not worth your time. Like I said before 90% of RGs from that era (and even newer ones) will have that crack. It's only a matter of time. At this point it's just something I expect with those guitars, especially if they've been gigged and not babied. Those guitars are 32+ years old at this point. He had his chance to do his homework and look at the guitar. He had it in his hands and had the opportunity to point out the crack and negotiate. Tell him to eat your entire ass.

I've quashed a deal in person, because I didn't see the finish crack in pics, but saw it in person. This was for a LTD, but the same principle applies.

Yep, it's different. Like, chipped on the edge where the crack is, perhaps?
 
I wouldn't do a refund. Buyer looked it over and was happy with it so it's on him. You didn't try and hide something and like others have said, I think the buyer did something to it to cause that.
