Hello, I'm a new member on this forum and I was wanting some input. I have a stock 1998 Gibson Les Paul Special with the stock P-100's in it that I want to swap out just the bridge pickup for a Dimarzio P-90 Super Distortion DP209 or a Dimarzio P-90 Tone Zone DP210 pickup.

I play modern metal and may have this guitar setup for Drop B tuning and the stock bridge pickup isn't cutting it. Unfortunately, I don't have the money right now to go with an active EMG P-81 & P-60 set. Have any of you guys tried these pickups in the bridge position of a P-90 or P-100 equipped Les Paul?

Check out the dimarzio d sonic for the bridge. I love it.

Billy Howeredel plays a drop tuned Les Paul classic and he uses Anderson H1 and H3 pickups.

I think you can pick those up used on the cheap.

The Dimarzio D-Sonic and the Anderson H1 and H3 pickups wont fit in my les paul special because I have the stock p-100 pickups in it, I really don't want to have the guitar routed out.

Then sell your guitar.

I don't care how you cut it p90/p100s suck for metal and downtuning.

This.

I'm a prog. metal player, and I love p90's, but they don't mix. Move to a humbucker equipped guitar
