This is for a super strat style guitar with solid mahogany body, maple neck, rosewood board.

Right now it has a JB/Jazz combo, and I don’t like either pickup.

The JB has a bit of a single coil twang/attack, sounds a bit generic, not a ton of clarity, or low end/low-mids. I’m looking for something hotter, thicker, more saturated, yet clear, with a healthy chunky low end/low-mids. Maybe a DiMarzio Crunch Lab?

The Jazz has that same single coil like vibe, and I’m looking for more of a liquid lead type pickup. Maybe a DiMarzio Evo?

I have a mahogany ss with a rio bbq in the bridge and just put in an air norton in the neck (direct mount). I don’t love either. Alder strat has super distortion in bridge and paf 36th anniversary in neck (nice n liquid). Love that combo, but maybe it’s magic with the alder?

The more I’m reading about it it looks like a Norton/Evo combo may be my best bet, anyone try that combo?

The Norton does not have more low-end than the JB. If anything, it's brighter.

Maybe a tone zone then?

The tone zone provides a lot of bass. It can go from nice and thick to indistinguishable mud pretty quickly. It really varies with the guitar. I have one guitar with a Tone Zone in it, and have never had any luck with it in other guitars.

I've always favored the Duncan Custom over the JB for a medium-high gain pickup. The Custom is a bit more even across for the frequency range: more base, a bit more treble, and less of the presence-mids of the JB. I wouldn't call it thick though, and I like it matched with the Jazz, so there you go! :)

For higher gain, I've used Tom Anderson H-3's and H-3+'s for years, as they're thick and yet retain clarity.

I would try a crunch lab. I like how it pairs with an EVO in the neck or a liquifire (have both combos).

Super Distortion PAF Pro neck. Killer combination. Or more costly, Bare Knuckle Miracle Man, Emerald Neck.
Both of these will get you there. I'm about to remove my JB Jazz combo for the SD and PAFP.

Don't let the Miracle Man scare you. I prefer it over all the other Bare Knuckles. It's not compressed and keeps that organic grind humbucker tone. Very defined as well. I found many times when I A/B the BK's they lack the punch of the others. Not so with the Miracle Man. Awesome pickup.

The miracle man has always been my favorite BKP pickup (based on clips). Having said that I’ve had a couple other BKP pickups I didn’t like (Nailbomb being one of them).

I have a PAF Joe in one of my other guitars that I love :) So, wanted something hotter than that for this guitar which is why I’m pretty set on the Evo neck.

Duncan Distortion?

Gave thought to that as well.
Not if you want chunky low end. The DD rips, but it’s light on the lows. If you want something hotter, thicker, more saturated, yet clear, with a healthy chunky low end/low-mids, try a Suhr Aldrich, or for extra low balls, a MCP Afwayu.

I’ve heard great things about the Afwayu, hows the clarity?

I think I’ve narrowed down the bridge pickup to these:
BKPCeramic Warpig
Lundgren M6
DiMarzio CrunchLab

Gonna stick with the Evo in the neck.

CL/EVO go great. You can find them used for $50 too!

Yeah, the price is nice :) Just got an evo neck from a formate for a great deal
