So, I'm thinking about a new guitar. Not about to drop the money on one yet, but most likely in about a year. So, I can get good deals on Ibanez guitars {I know the distributor], but I'm considering my options. I play mostly metal though and I have a S470 Ibanez. My only dislike with the Ibanez aside from the odd body size which I'm cool with is the lack of 24 frets. So, money is a bit of a factor and the fact that I live in Canada. I'm looking for a good guitar for something around $1000-1500 Canadian which is about $1300US tops. Any good ideas or stick with the Ibanez?

There's all kinds of optons out there.. Jackson guitars arre a great place to start.

I'll think of others, later.

Well, should I go for the Ibanez because I can get about 25% off any Ibanez in Canada.

RGT220?

can you get one of em? nice neck-thrus... and you can get either ash or mahogany wings

id say do some research and try out quite a few...Ibanez, Jackson, Schecter, ESP...you never know what you might find that might really fit you well. all of these makes have guitars that are in your price range, and all make excellent guitars IMO.

T2Russo, yep. I can basically get any guitar minus the J Customs.

They don't make J-Customs anymore do they?

yes they do... and they RULE HARDCORE...

but get the neckthru rg... the RGT220h, the mahogany one, might be my next axe... assuming i dont end up with a gutierrez...

Heh, I'm gonna check out the 220h when I'm at the large music store. Steve's which is downtown, Italmelodie which is the exact opposite and the other side of the island and Jimis which is where I go to pick up strings and that stuff but they don't have a selection aside from low-end.

Gutierrez, I wish. Too expensive for me.

Cloud, I like Floyds even though they are a bitch to maintain. I think I could most likely do without the Floyd but I like it there knowing I can use it when I please.

Ah, gotcha.

I love trems too in whatever shape and size.

Could always look for a JEM.

Holy bump Batman. I've started to gain some curiousity in custom shop guitars. I wonder if it is worth the money [well, it's custom] for a slightly upgraded version of a model with some certain things that would be different to my preference. Since I live in Canada, these things are a pain since I'm limited and I don't know of many brands that would offer flexibility from their custom shop models. Or should I stick with the Ibanez and to hell with it? And for the point, I play mostly metal and prefer a Floyd

So the only thing you dislike about the S470 really is the lack of two frets? I don't know about you, but most people don't play on those frets that much at all.

But if you must have the 24 frets, then just get a Japanese made RG and slap good pickups in it if you can get the guitar at a good price.

Sorry for the late reply but just wanted to let you know you are at the 10,000th in line now and I should be able to give you some advice around the year 2054 to 2056 ... somewhere in that time frame.

Thank you for your patience.
