Ok, so I am not that versed when it comes to the C+. When I worked with Boogie a million years ago Mike B. had modded my Mark IV before I took delivery . I had two heads done and my tech at the time wanted one. They basically sounded the same so I kept one which I still have to this day. Mike B did some work for me some years back and it went great, caught up and amp sounds great.

Now... Fast forward and I have a line on a IIB combo with the graphic and the 60/100 switch. I tried contacting Boogie to contact Mike B and got some rep that couldnt answer any tech questions and couldnt put me in touch with Mike B. He gave me his email and says he could forward it to Mike. Ok... thats kinda horseshit but whatever. He says Mike B doesnt take calls anymore and has no extention..
The thing that got me though is he said Mike B cant mod a B to a C and I coulda sworn guys in this very forum had the conversion. This guy says he does an effects loop mod that gets it closer to a C but Mike would never sign off on it being a converted C. Anyone have any info from thru the years or can confirm or deny what this guy is telling me?
His Name was K. Dilbeck if anyone has ever spoken to him. I totally get Mike must be bombarded with calls but these were legit questions and I dunno how long that IIB is gonna be around. Thanks in advance!

He hasn't done the b to c in a long time. He can loop mod it though. I have his email somewhere, if you want it I can dig it up.

Yep he’s giving you accurate information. Can’t do the b to c conversion anymore. He can do the “loop mod” to make it a bit more aggressive but it’s not a IIc+.

When I called to ask about having him work on my III, the rep told me the same thing about getting in touch with Mike B. He said he'd be the one working on my amp if I sent it in, and that he'd probably call or email me once he was starting on it.

My understanding is if you RMA an amp (particularly a vintage amp or do mods like add a GEQ to a iic+) Mike does the work. You contact mesa and get an RMA number and send it in. I’m not sure after boogie got bought but it used to be mesa charged you for parts and you wrote a check directly to Mike for his time modding. He also has a metric fuck load of amps he has to go through at any given time so he has a large back log and often times will not take mods for months at a time to catch up. He has an email address and I have emailed him. He has access to a phone but it’s more of a “he calls you” situation. He is an exceptionally nice guy who doesn’t play guitar ironically but has worked on legendary amps for years as he is mesa’s oldest employee.

To get to your question, the necessary board to mod a B to a C are no longer In Production and long out of stock. The loop mod will get a B closer to a C but it’s not the same. I believe You can mod a c to a c+ but not a b. Hope this helps

Its a shame that Mike B. isn't just a phone call away anymore. However, i understand. He would REALLY take his time with you, and kind of allow you to pick his brain a bit. I can imagine that getting really annoying for him though, as we all know how us mark series geeks can be. we're a little obsessive. probably took up way too much of his time after a while. Super nice guy though. class act all around.
