I had the back off to dust the chassis and notice waht looks like bulging caps, all 4 of them, but I want some opinions. I've never had an amp with these same caps, so I just want to make sure I am not overreacting. The bulge seems to only be in the center, not a standard radius, I have included some visual aid. If someone had a classic they could conpare to that would be f'n awsome.

Thanks

I am no tech, but I once bought an Uberschall that had caps that looked exactly like that. The amp had other issues as well so I returned it to the seller and mentioned the caps as one of the reasons I was unhappy with the amp. I was sure they were about to blow. He sent the amp to Bogner to get checked out and (according to him) they said that was normal for their caps and that there ws nothing wrong with them.

The caps on my XTC have a slight bulge too. Not as big as what you've got there but similar in shape. So, I'm hoping it's normal...

It sounds great, no issues. most bulging caps have a symetrical bulg and this seems very aysemtrical. Thanks

Mine are exactly the same, and I just had my amp retubed and gone over at bogner recently, so I'd say its totally normal. :)

Woohoo!!!! I'm such a dramaqueen. Thanks!

OK guys got off the phone with Bogner and everything is ok. They said this is common and is not the cap bulging but rather the black plastic disc that insulates the metal foil of the cap on the top. It is caused from heat, the plastic disc warps. This can be verified by either looking under that insulating disc cover (after discharging caps). THis was the case the cap is not bulging. they say it is more common on amps that are gigged. The cap is not overheating, but the insulating disc can disc can warp. THey knew exactly what I was talking about.

Thanks to all that responded
