Never knew the dude in night ranger was this good!

Unless I am missing something, I don't think he ever played in Night Ranger. They did however have two very good guitarists..

I think he's referring to NR guitarist Jeff Watson, who contributed 1 or 2 solos to Malcalpine's album, Maximum Security (as did George Lynch).

Not sure why the op didn't just link to the song(s) Jeff plays on though.

Edit - Jeff plays on the song "The King's Cup", trading solos back & forth with Tony (solos 1, 3 & 5 are Watson, starting at 1:44):

Watson and Gillis....now that was a great team back in the day.

Watson definitely was a beast. Some of his solos have excellent memorable phrasing.

Solo in Sister Christian. ...
Wow. Such a haunting hanging solo.
more with less wins again.

Jeff is a Beast
His replacement (Joel Hoekstra) was a beast
Joel's replacement is a beast.

A top 40 pop band with 2 shredders, ahhh the good old days

one the best night ranger songs ever - yet noone knows/cares about

This song should have gotten some serious radio play - hell even the country stations could have
played it !!

Wasn't Jeff Watson one of the first guys (commercially speaking) to really utilize the 8 finger approach to tapping?

Remember when Gillis took over for Randy after he passed (Speak of the Devil)? I thought he did a great job and I heard he had a very short time frame in which to learn those tunes.

Funny, if you look on you tube it looks like Sharon had all the speak of the devil video stuff removed? Not surprising, right? :gethim:

I just couldn't get into Neverland. Jacks singing didn't seem to fit the songs. And NR is my all time number one band so it's meant as no disrespect. I think the thing that pisses me off so much these days is that the radio stations can't see past Sister Christian. "Hey, it's that Sisiter Christian Band"
That band was so much more than that song and it's not even their best ballad imo
