Love the tone on "Face down in the gutter". Just raw as fuck!

Holy shit you aren't kidding! His tone is so alive. I can hear MP1 in the tone but there is forsure something else going on!

I love both of their CD's with Diglio on guitar. IMHO Diglio is one of the best players of the 80's. He also has a killer tone. I've been looking for a Morin preamp ever since I found out that Diglio used one.

But their first album came out in October 1989. With 3 months in the 80's, I'd technically call them a 90's band. I hate the fact that grunge claims the 90's when in fact, hair metal went well into the 90's. Sure it fizzled by 1993 or so, but still.

I love Diglio's playing! My experience with an ADA MP-1 is you can easily nail his tone. His settings are listed on the ADA Depot site.

I still lump all the hair metal that came out in the first few years of the 90's generally as "80's music" despite the fact that the CD's may have been released in 90 or 91. Once you start talking about guitar players of the 90's, I think you are talking about a whole different set of players and an entirely different genre of music.

I thought he was using an ADA MP-1?

I have a magazine at home with a Diglio interview where he talks about his gear. I'll see if I have time to dig it up this weekend.

In 1990 Diglio said that he used a 1969 Jose modded Marshall for the first CD and boosted it with a Boss OD-1 for the solos.

I don't have any concrete information regarding the second CD.

Nice job! Yeah you're right it does come pretty close to that tone. I found this on youtube by typing in Furman PQ3. Is this you?

I agree I feel that way with Extreme and Steelheart. 80's tones for the 90's depression.

BTW, anyone know if Diglio did anything after XYZ and/or what he's doing now? I recall Googling and finding no information on what, if anything, Diglio did after xyz, much less what he's doing now.

Yup.....the YouTube clips are me too.

Hey guys, feedback wanted: Which clips/tone do you prefer? a. You Tube (or) b. Sound Cloud

YouTube was a Zoom Q3hd recorder

Sound Cloud was one miced vintage greenback

The amp & furman were set the same way for both recordings.

Preference? Or they both suck.

i liked the 1st youtube vid best...but both tones sounded pretty rippin' to me !

I like the first YT video best. Is your amp stock?

No the amp is not stock. I purchased it from 232cap here on the RT forum. I believe he performed the mods.

Thanks for the feedback.

I saw them in Pitts...either in 89 or 90'..one of those two...he used 1 guitar the whole night..a jackson dinky-black w/ red serpert..marshall amps on stage..but who knows what else was going on..tone wise...they did a great job that night..
