What's the justification of a piece? And I know I'll get flamed for this question - I know, right to bear arms etc etc - but up here in Icebackland, we can't legally carry weapons, which therefore translates to not really needing weapons. If you're caught in cultural crossfire, you shouldn't have been there in the first place. Most of the cats donning a grip up here are too young and too stupid to know how they work. I've had to "manage" a couple cats who were packing; it was all psychology. In the end, they should thank me as they'd have ended up blowing their dick off or putting a hole in their foot. Idiots.

But the gun-in-America thing... Why? Is it because there's an ever-present threat and you need to protect yourself (which if this is the case, I totally 100% get it, for sure)? I'm just wondering.

I don't know about others, but home protection is important to me. There's no guarantees you can get to your weapon in the case of a burglary or home invasion, but the plan is that if someone is going to die, it's not going to be somebody in my family if at all possible. The other situation is during a natural disaster (Earthquakes here in CA), if the supply chain stops and chaos ensues, I again want to be armed in order to protect my family if at all possible. There are no guarantees but I cannot sit idle and just hope for peace or that law enforcement will always be there to assist.

There's also this one. :D It's like the Diezel of guns.

If I show this to my wife, she will want it for Christmas!!

Sell the les paul you don't like and the VH4. No need keeping them around if you want the cash for other investments.

Its trading one tool for another.
(forgive the pun.)

I'd keep both LP's and amp and save up for the gun ;) If you have to sell one sell a silverburst, keep the best one and keep the VH4

I guess I just don't get the "need" for a gun.

If you're a musically inclined individual, or write and record or jam or gig, or whatever - you can justify gear.

I don't NEED a gun. I justify wanting one because I like to shoot. It's fun and it relieves stress. I won't be carrying it. It's just for the shooting range. I'm not a gun "nut" hell-bent on showing everyone how much I love the second amendment and I'm not one of those guys who is trying to prepare for some "when the shit hits the fan" event. I just like guns and I just like to shoot. Just like how I enjoy playing guitar. That's as simple as it gets.

I don't make money playing guitar. It's just a hobby.

Never thought I'd sell one of my Silverbursts — or even my Diezel — but, I'm thinking about it because I want me one of these Ed Brown Kobra 1911s. I have two Silverbursts... may not need both of 'em. One is in for a refret right now at Philtone. When I get it back I'll have to decide which one goes. Or I could sell my VH4 since it's an amp and I can always find another one if need be. Can't replace a guitar since every one is different. I dunno!

What do?!

HAHAHAHA!!

You gotta be kidding me.. I was half considering this very concept for an Ed Brown. I've been browsing through the 1911 forum too much, I think.

:D Great minds think alike. I checked out a Wilson CQB Compact today. VERY NICE. It's been on the dealer's shelf for a while so it's got a good asking price. But I think I may go for the Ed Brown. It's a tough decision!

Except I'd be rock'n the full size, But I'd still go for the Brown Bobtail. Probably on a special Forces or Classic Custom

Yeah, I can't decide between full size or Commander/carry. Not sure if I like the bobtail or not. Either way, I'm going for a Kobra.

IT'S A FREAKIN SILVERBURST, MAN
unless you're robbing it back with the gun, do not sell it
only sell it if someone is offering big money and you're really not bonding with the guitar
I never had any regret at all of selling my '81 wine red standard, but I'd rather shoot my left testicle than give up on my '73 custom, no matter what I need the money for

I'd consider trading the vh4 for an einstein plus cash, though
the mega mode on the einstein sounds just as good as the vh4's

Sell the guitar you like to play least. Don't sell the Diezel. Buy the 1911. It's the right thing to do. ;)

:powpow:

This is an interesting topic. I also have a Les Paul Custom + R9 + Diezel (Hagen), and the 1911 .45 is my preferred weapon for shooting.

I really like the Springfield Armory 1911. It's not too expensive.

I would keep the VH4 for sure! If you have to part with a guitar, pick one of the Silverbursts (only because you have two).

I don't make money playing guitar. It's just a hobby.

Those LPs and VH4 just walked in uninvited. :D

To me, as a musician (and European?), it's just strange to see a post on a guitar forum about selling LPs and/or a Diezel amp to buy guns. :dunno:

Save your cash and have it all, bro. I don't play music as anything but a hobby, and I like to shoot too. I've got a full size Springfield next to the bed, and an XDsc that I actually carry.

I'm glad I didn't get rid of something to buy the guns; I don't like sacrificing something I already own to purchase something else.

If you absolutely HAVE to sell something, sell the VH4; you know you can always get another, and it's gonna sound pretty much the same as the last one. You know that's not gonna be the case with those LPs. Good luck!

My work partner is Swiss. When he moved here, as a "Welcome to America" present we had an All-American weekend before his first day at work. Breakfast of Chicken-N-Waffles, then took him shooting at the range (his first time shooting), then a BBQ, then fireworks. Now he joins me at the range whenever he gets the chance because (in his mangled Swiss accent), "oh ya, shooting gunz ish freakin' ahsome, bro."

agreed went to the range tonight ..nothing like a 1911 ..from the recoil, power, hearN the big ol empty hit the ground ...

those ed browns are so Nice olmost did about the same thing last year..selling my 89 LPC to help fund one..ended up getting springfield A-1 loaded then bought some wilson combat parts for it...while my A-1 is not as nice as a Ed brown ..its pretty sweet now and I got to keep my LPC :)

Yeah, they are definitely tempting. :D

Wilsons are sick. A little out of my price range, though. Springfields are pretty reliable I hear.

honestly I love the A-1 I picked up never had a jam or f2f or anything .. but u can get a stock one for around 800-900 used on armslist

Got it. This makes better sense to me. Hittin' the range for target sounds cool - I'd be into that. And more than likely, this would create a passion in me I am sure.

Thanks for the intel - puts it in better perspective now

Ya know.. I gots a Springfield "Loaded" model up for grabs. :D

A few years ago a buddy and I were trying to think of something to do. And i was like, "You know, I've never shot a gun..." So we jumped in the car and went to a range. And I was hooked. It's a lot of fun!

I'd make sure this is the type of 1911 that the guy in Tool uses.
