Is the Bogner worth the extra cash? I gotta think its harmonically richer, and more articulate. Found one used at a decent price, and wanted some input before I make a move. The only negatives I've read have been a noisy effects loop, but that could be user error or effects unit themselves.

If you need to have the chug, there are better amps than the 3534.

I'm looking for small footprint, 25-50 watts, big bottles, (with adjustable bias), and $1000-$1600-ish. Looking for super aggressive/mean and nasty!

Suggest away!

Can’t really suggest anything because my other amps are a jj jr and mark v 25, neither of which fit what you are looking for. The 3435 is my “change of pace” amp. Super aggressive, mean and nasty are the last words I’d use for it. It is definitely rich and articulate though.

I loved the Mark V 25 I had, but hate EL84's. They fart out pretty quick, atleast for me.

I haven’t played a mark v35, but it might be worth checking out if you dig the mark sound. It is still el84 though.

Try an eq in the loop of the 3534, it chugs along just fine. I haven't touched my Mark V25 since getting the Bogner.

EvH 50S is what you are after. Also having Midi is a bonus. Great amp! Loved mine when I had it.
The Bogner is a great amp as well but a different flavor of high gain.

I ordered the 50S. It'll be here Thursday.

If you’re after a small, aggressive high gain amp then I can’t think of anything better than a Dover DA-20. It might change your mind about EL84’s. To me it has really been the only low wattage high gain amp that impressed so far. Despite it being 20 watts and EL84, it sounds big and actually one of the tightest amps I’ve tried, only outdone in tightness by things like my CCV, Monomyth and possibly the Badlander, but haven’t AB’ed those 2 like I did with the ccv and Monomyth

Actually I think the Badlander 50 would be better now that you mention up to 50 watts plus it’s pretty compact size wise, but maybe a little over the budget you mentioned. The DA-20 might actually still sound fatter than the BL50, but still prefer the BL overall

KSR Ares. Small footprint, 6L6 tubes, 50 watts and aggressive as hell. New is around $2K but used ones pop up around $1200-1500 often.
