I just picked up a carpeted covered all plywood angled front 4x12. It has 4 original Celestians that date to 1973

It really sounds great, very full and clear. The mystery is that other than R&R road cases on the handles there is no marking as to who built it. At first I thought Sonic but it looks like 3/4" plywood and Sonic did not build cabs that heavy-duty. Could it be a R&R cab? I checked their website and there was no mention of building guitar cabs but who knows what they did 30 years ago or more.

Ever see one of these?

Looks like the standard Marshall slant style build. Be advised that it looks like you've got a missing dust cap on your top left speaker in that cab. I'd get a new one for that so nothing can float in there through the cloth and screw it up. Good luck.

It definately is not a Marshall cab, the plywood is a lot thicker than anything I have ever seen in a Marshall cab.

Do you sell dust caps? If so, how much? Thanks for pointing it out, I'll buy one from you if you have them.

That looks almost like an old Crate amps cab....but I don't think they were around back then.

Interesting!

its a crate cab

Are you sure? I found a serial number tag on the other handle, it said serial number 8879 or 3879. The cab has insulation in it too.

If it is a Crate cab it must be one of their high end ones, there is no partical board anywhere, it is very thick plywood. I'd guess with speakers it weighs close to 100 pounds.

Here I am trying to lighten the load due to my back and I bought this thing

I think I will leave a 4x12 at church, that takes care of 2x per month. The other gigs I am stuck with the heavy gear for now. I ordered a Pink Taco and I have a 1x12 with a Scumback in it, I hope to go that route for gigs with pa's. It's hard to believe but I still play gigs that only the vocals go through the pa, I have to have a 4x12 for those gigs.
