Second day of listening and I'm really liking Take Her Out. More of an optomistic tune IMO. Not quite as dark as the other songs. Great stuff!

Cantrell is the reason this band still exists. Do you know of any other non active band except classic rock artist`s from the 70`s that have gotten airplay for the last 14 years. Clear channel does not play artist music for free. try to the tune of 10 to 30k a month depending on the artist. Good for Jerry / he`s been at it the whole time.

Tripod was Jerry getting frustrated with Layne's addiction, and he wrote in Layne's parts.
Bogey Depot was a continuation of that...but no Layne. Jerry still sounded like a backup / complimenting vocalist...without a lead. This album when I first heard it, and still, think it's missing that "something" that Jerry + Layne did.
Degradation Trip was when Jerry "found" his vocal sound, IMO. Layne wasn't really missing in the vocals...but would have been a nice addition kind of deal.
This album, it's no surprise that Jerry is taking more of a lead vocal approach, Jerry could do it all himself as proven in his last solo album. The addition of William was kind of a side-project by comparison to Jerry's solo stuff, but when AIC decided to reform, it made sense, since William seemed to fill in for Layne decently enough...and apparently, he's a hell of a musician/vocalist as well.
At least, that's my take on it.

Anyone remember who that vocalist was that toured with Jerry in 98-99. I saw them at Shoreline in Mountain View and that guy did a great job filling in on Layne's parts. Suprised they did not go with him.
