Sheesh.
It never stops.
But this is kind of cool...
So I have an incoming Axe-FX II next week, and then I also decided to wanted to try a Randall, and found a Randall V2 Archetype (Christian from Fear Factory's signature amp) fairly inexpensive...so decided to buy it yesterday.
Then, today, I was thinking about cabs, and I don't get the weird way the Randalls are set (like 400 watts into 4 ohms, and such), so I thought about getting a Randall cab.
Lo and behold, there are a couple of cabs for sale on Craigslist nearby.
ready for this?
Only in L.A. does this happen...
Now, I know this stuff wouldn't happen if I lived in someplace like Nebraska...
So I email a guy about the cab he has for sale...
and...
I tell him I am trying to find a good match for the Archetype...
He's like...I have the perfect cab for that amp...because that's MY Signature Amp!
Umm...I'm like...ok...is this Christian?
Yep. He's unloading some excess cabs and cases and amps and such, and I made a (pretty darn good) deal with him to get one of the matching Randall cabs for the Archetype amp.
Like I said...
This only happens in L.A.
(Like the time I was looking for an ENGL Powerball, and Chris Broderick has one for sale right down the street from my house!).
sheesh.

And then, on the way home, I decided to stop over at Guitar Center for a moment, and when I walked in the door, bumped into another Rig-Talker...
DSTROUD!
This sumbitch can certainly play!
So I went back to my car and grabbed my Friedman Modded JMP100 Marshall (what I call the SKULLCrusher) and had him play through it!
Recorded a couple of vids of today's activities...
CLEAN
GAIN!
By the way, we hooked it up to some Line6 V30 cab, and I gotta say, one of the worst sounding cabs I have ever heard. No lows, too bright, sounded terrible.
