New Amp and Guitar!

I can't believe that this is the first time owning any of the 5150 iii variants. Wasn't looking to get one, but it was part of a trade deal. Holy shit! Such a cool amp. I really liked my 6505+ that I recently sold, but I like this more. It has more grit to the gain structure. It's also smaller and lighter which is just a nice bonus. The amp has unbranded preamp tubes except for the Ei 12AT7 I have in V3 while I wait for my Sovtek LPS tube to arrive, and unbranded power tubes with a little white sticker on the base that says APP 8. Any ideas??? They work and they sound good so I'm not too concerned. Just curious.

I also picked up this guitar last week after going into GC to buy picks. I'm a sucker for natural stained guitars. The P90 in the neck seemed pretty cool too. Plus, it was only $349. Feels really nice to me and I have not found any issues at all. But to be honest, I'm not very picky.

Anyways, here are a couple of clips. Going into my Emperor cab loaded with Sheffied 1290 speakers. SM57 going into an iRig Pre HD straight into my iPhone.




And using my main guitar in drop B for this. This has a low output PAFish pickup. This with the blue channel gain at 10 o'clock is definitely one of my favorite tones so far from this amp. I turn on my Bion Boost pedal for just a little bit at about 1:30.

Nice man! Caught the 1st vid when it showed up in YT feed earlier and it sounded dope, 2nd was a nice surprise. Had no idea this amp would sound that good in drop B.

Cool demo! How does it feel compared to Molecular tone wise?

Hmmm, I never thought I’d use this word but I’m gonna say the EVH is definitely chewier. The EVH can get grittier too. The Molecular is dryer but can get that nice diode clipping grind kind of saturation. Am I even making sense?? But I guess I’ll stick with chewier for the EVH and dryer for the Molecular.
