Bought another PRS Archon and it drops today.
This will be the 3rd one. :lol: :LOL:
Trust me its one of my all time top 5 amps. Just when I had them in the past something comes up to trade and I know there are a lot of these out there.
These amps are SERIOUSLY UNDERESTIMATED!! :yes:
Such a rich thick tone. :rock:

3rd time is the charm they say! :D
 
Congrats, again :)

I guess I know the feeling. I really would like a previous amp I had sold off and I am sure I would be happy if I got it again.
 
Ive had 3 Invaders.. Good tone never has an expiration date! go with what you know..

I had the Invader 150.
Channel 2 is one of the best out there. :thumbsup:
Always been on the lookout for another. But no deals seem to pop up when I had the $$$

Yeah this one is going to go along nicely with the Mesa's.

Welcome back to the Archon crew. I had an Archon 100, loved it, but wanted to downsize my rig so I sold it, and bought the Archon 25 combo, put in an EVH greenback, and now I am set. Seriously great amp. I also recently found the trick for killer crunch tones, back off the guitars volume knob on the distortion channel. This works better than lowering the gain. Must be due to where the gain control is in the circuit, but it works awesome that way.

Three weeks.
 
Hell yeah Dan. I happen to have an amp Landing today also. The ceriatone chupa with mercury transformers and choke and more aggressive mods. Excited.
I've wanted to give an archon a try, someday

When I had my first one I had a diezel vh4.
Did a blind test between the diezel and the archon.
Had 5 guitarists over. Had them turn their back. Channel switched between the 2 amps.
Got the archon dialed into 99.9 percent of the diezel channel 3.
Really impressive amp say the least. Only offed my other 2 knowing there was a lot of Archons floating around. ;)

Not sure if I am gonna check it out today. But I know what tone goodness it already has. :D
 
Awesome amp. Congrats. I want to hear a good demo of crunch sounds. All I see are high-gain and clean demos.
 
I assume this was the one you picked up last week from the classifieds here. I was so close to pulling the trigger on that, but just had too many things in the air.
Congrats !! All the videos/reading I saw on it were awesome.

Really....

This interests me. The Archon is an amp I am continually intrigued by. So it can stay pretty tight then? Even without a boost? I thought these were supposed to be a bit Recto-ish?

Really....

This interests me. The Archon is an amp I am continually intrigued by. So it can stay pretty tight then? Even without a boost? I thought these were supposed to be a bit Recto-ish?

I have a Recto and this is more mids and thicker in tone. Not the razor cut like the recto.
This amp really is a bad ass.
No pedals in front. Just a Boss GE 7 in the loop.
2 out of the 5 guys that were over bought one that night! :lol: :LOL:
 
Congrats Dan. My fave high gainer. I have 2 of them. One home, one at the space. Smoother and tighter than a recto. I agree the best crunch tones are with guitar volume dialed back. I've been saying for years I'd throw together a clip showing the range and dynamics of channel 2 but I've yet to get around to it.

It also is in my top 5 favorite amps as well. :rock:
