SPLAWN QUICKROD... Great price and its like getting 3 amps in one. GEARS: 1st - Hot Rod Plexi, 2nd - Hot Rod 800, 3rd - Super Hot Rod 800. I love mine. Add-on's include DROP B+ switch and MID CUT switch. This amp is so customizable. Call Scott at Splawn and discuss what you are looking for tone wise. Cant go wrong with a Quickrod.

Welp, I got antsy and found a used Helios 100 that should be here in a week! Thank you everyone for the input. I learned a lot, and a JMP 2203/4 is definitely on my short list for the future.

This is a good read. I've had many amps, but the only Marshall I had was an early 90's AVT thing, which was not very good. I started down the Marshall road many times, but so many variations in the models and I wanted to be really heavy always pulled me away from looking too deep and learning all the models.

So it seems like the best thing to do would be to buy some old 80's JCM800 model and just try it and go from there? I see a 1984 JCM 800 on Reverb for $795

Nothing wrong with that pick. Congrats...

Played a ceriatone chupacabra once. Very nice. Marshall tones and then some fosho.

Gotcha. I simply changed the power tubes and plugged in and played. These old Marshall’s are built tough.

Here is what it sounds like. I think I’m using an SD-1 out front. That’s it.

I love it! Love that thump on the palm mutes.

Also....in the ring...

Morris Perplex'd
Metropolous amps
Bad Cat Lynx (seriously under the radar and nicely priced used)
Landry
3rd Power

But these are not Sweetwater stock brands .

Hell, I just bought a Chinese-made Randall Thrasher 50, and it kicked my Ceriatone Yeti to the curb. And, I have no gas, and if I do, the Thrasher stays.

Yet you sold it 2 weeks later?

Too bad there's no decent Thrasher 50 sales in Europe... the thing is now 1300 euro's new here (~USD $1500).
