Hello ,
I am looking for a nice combo amp in the $2000 range 1-12 .
Any ideas?I have all over the net looking at builders and even some amp kits.I have been useing a dr z monza 1-10 thats way to loud and dirty for what I need.
With that in mind would like some input please feel free to pm or reply to this thread thanks jj

An informed recommendation makes an informed decision. We need to know what kind of music you play.

That being said, for that amount of money I think a used Bogner Shiva combo would serve as a beautifully versatile amp.

Again, it'll depend on what you're looking to do with it, but I was floored when I got to get out a Suhr Badger combo! I definitely wouldn't mind owning one someday! :D

I know that the dr z monza was too much gain and too LOUD.I need something cleaner with capabilities to go loud but stay clean but can also break up if needed.
I really want to run it with another amp as well maybe a Super Reverb.I think a 12 inch speaker mixed in would sound great if I go Dry/wet .
As far as the music goes is anything but shred or death. JJ

The guy says a Dr Z Monza has too much gain so you recommend a Splawn?

The Fender Deluxe Reverb is a great call or one of the clones from Victoria or Richter. A JTM45 with MV might work out nicely in the mix with the Super. Matchless DC30 or Spitfire for a sparkly tone, heck an AC15 too. Nolatone Junebug fits the bill. Valvetech VAC25 is killer. Lots of good options.

theres a small company from canada called Trinity amps that has killer lower t mid wattage type handwired ptp amps with awesome prices! I got their sIII Which is their take on the marshall 1974x 18watt , they have a tweed style 15watt , a vox/matchless style, and a Hiwatt inspired 25 watt. They all sound great and they are offered in kit form for diy. The guys are great to deal with, mine is 6 yrs old and still sounds/works great with not 1 problem.

Well, sometimes people equate watts to volume when they shouldn't. When someone says they want low watts to me that means they want low headroom (early breakup). Like, for most blues. There is lots of music that simply doesn't sound good on a low watt amp, especially if you want any kind of cleans or clean picking.

TS - you said you don't play Shred or Death but everything else. Does that mean you do play some metal or thrash? Hard rock? Alternative?

The Street Rod is a great rec and it has a beautiful clean channel. It also can be ran at 40 or 20 watts.

just sayin'

I was looking at this in a 1-12 combo open back small. This would work I think.
Anyone every try one of these?

Maybe going by this example of what I am looking for you could give me your ideas.
Maybe a clone even that would have 6l6 power 1-12 comb 20 to 30 watt range reverb if possible
Anyone on here try the Dumble cloned stuff?Would they be too loud in a 1-12 combo?
I here Ben Harper has one combo thats switchable 25 watt to 50 watts

One of the Egnater combos? Renegade (switchable down to 18 watts) Rebel 20? Played these at NAMM and they sounded great.

I wouldn't call the Renegade a high gain amp but it can get some high gain tones. It is a low-mid gain amp with it's 18w - 85w option. Awesome flexibility, especially if you want to run 6L6s on one channel and EL34s on the other channel. Or use the 'tube mix' to blend them. You can also pop in just about any kind of power tube with no mods. I highly recommend this amp along with the Splawn Street Rod.

Can't speak to the other maps you asked about.
