I picked up an Ibanez RG7620 not long ago my first 7 string.

Decided to swap out the stock pups.
(For background I've been using EMG in my six string guitars for the longest time)
I didn't want to router out this guitar to accommodate the size of the 7 string EMGs  :bash:

I went with Bare Knuckle Pickups and chose the 7 string ceramic Black hawk, having never heard or played one in person I was a little nervous but, the description on their site this pickup seemed like the one for me aka a passive pickup version of an active.

I'm pretty happy with the Blackhawk to my ear is very clear, very tight, has full mids, the treble is round not piercing
has more bass than I was expecting going off the tone chart.

The tone graph/chart of this pup on the BK site seems a little off to me, I would say it's more balanced than the graph shows.

I'm not going to go crazy and say this is the best pickup ever, I haven't clocked enough time with it yet, however what I will say is that I found out there is life after actives/EMGs which I didn't think was possible for me.

stoked :rawk:

My guitar is tuned to standard, I'm really happy with the clarity of the blackhawk the low B sounds great

I may veer towards these instead of the AMs in my upcoming/incoming 7 string.

Keep us posted as to how you get on with these. How to they respond to different styles of play? Higher gain, crunchy, hairy, clear, etc.

Peace

coolness. 7620's are great guitars. Best guitar for the money IMO. I have miracle mans in mine and they (it) sounds great. Congrats Bro.

yep it's a nice guitar that I got for a really good price.
I narrowed my pup choice to aftermaths, miracle mans, and the blackhawk. it was recommended to me from BK aka Tim and also the dealer I purchased them from Axe Palace that I go with the Black hawks.

I'm sure I would have been happy with anyone of them as I think all of the pups have in common that tightness and clarity.

I'm liking them a lot, the more time I spend with them the better, the Blackhawks are not brittle or thin by any means in fact they are very full sounding and I keep coming back to the word balanced.

I play mostly metal/death/ whatever not the most versatile player but, I image they would excel at any style of music.

I'd like to give the aftermath and the miracle mans a shot as they were on my list of BK pups to try.

The MMs are insanely high output. A touch scooped, but kazy solid ass beatin' for metal, drop, djent, heavy aggro chuggah. They're insane.

BECAUSE of this, I find their usage a little limiting... But I do love 'em.

BKP rool.
