I picked up an Ibanez RG7620 not long ago my first 7 string.
Decided to swap out the stock pups.
(For background I've been using EMG in my six string guitars for the longest time)
I didn't want to router out this guitar to accommodate the size of the 7 string EMGs
I went with Bare Knuckle Pickups and chose the 7 string ceramic Black hawk, having never heard or played one in person I was a little nervous but, the description on their site this pickup seemed like the one for me aka a passive pickup version of an active.
I'm pretty happy with the Blackhawk to my ear is very clear, very tight, has full mids, the treble is round not piercing
has more bass than I was expecting going off the tone chart.
The tone graph/chart of this pup on the BK site seems a little off to me, I would say it's more balanced than the graph shows.
I'm not going to go crazy and say this is the best pickup ever, I haven't clocked enough time with it yet, however what I will say is that I found out there is life after actives/EMGs which I didn't think was possible for me.
stoked
