New Bare Knuckles

They sound like they'd be a little more abrasive than an afwayu to me. Ceramic mags and aimed at metal/punk. Who knows though, maybe they are similar.

So its their version of the Afwayu then?
Ahhhh! Don't even get me started. Let's just say Tim Mills started this type of shit in the UK. Someone else capitalized on his ideas in the US. It's all good though. Just give recognition where it's due. Capitalism is a good thing. Hey look at the Asians. They stole all of our ideas and capitalized. Bareknuckles are great pickups. I have no desire to try the copycats. Some of whom have tried to get info on building directly from Tim before they launched their lines.

The add is also wrong, there are not 3 ceramic magnets in the bridge, it was a typo in the initial add...

I'm interested in the Ceramic warpig, I typically use the Dimebucker in my guitars and have used just about every other pickup, can you guys give me a lowdown on the ceramic warpigs?

these new one look awesome though, might have to get them for a Charvel!

Cheers!

I agree. Tim broke new ground and while others have done a respectable job at mimicking the designs, there's only one BKP. All just my humble opinion of course & no offense to any other pup maker. Tim is the man!

Thanks Bro. I'm not a Bareknuckle endorsee, but Tim really is a good genuine person and credit is due. Who before him had distressed covers and maple spacers, etc. He and I talked. I have been using his pups before most even knew about them. Pushing 8 years now. He's so humble he asked me not to metion certain things like a certain person trying to pick his brain. Well, I mentioned it. Fuck it. The truth is the truth and persoanlly I don't feel anyone has improved upon what he did for the world of guitar pickups.

I had the Ceramic Warpig and didn`t like it, big sounding but loose bass and no definition in the mids. I had it in an ESP M-II.

I really like the Painkiller in my ESP Scythe. The Miracle Man is great for those 80` Jake E Lee Dokken type tones.

But in the end, my all time favorite pickups are the Andersons. I can`t get enough of these. The H-3+ Is insane.

Just y .02.....

PS, i can smell a Meathead in the horizon, a green one is beeing born as we speak...........

Then a red one is on it`s way............

My experience with the C-Pig is pretty different. They had a VERY tight low end. They do have a slighty scooped nature to them, but I found they had more than enough definition in the mids. However, I did have them in one axe where I had pretty poor results with the low end, but that was the guitars fault so you have to consider the axe.

Yeah the C-pig is ultra tight and has a good amount of mids, very hot though

I've got 2 sets already in 2 ax's, and the 3rd set coming - a calibrated set of Miracle Man's... BKP are the bomb - I have NO desire to hear or try anything else out - they've always delivered the goods above and beyond what I need. Customer service is ACE, and quality - unbeatable. I always have to take a bit of a plunge when deciding on what pup to work with, but Tim's always ON IT!! Tells me his thoughts, and I go with it, and have not been disappointed - not to mention, he's not all retail... That cat can lay down some SICK shit on his own when it comes to playing, and THAT ALONE speaks sums to me.

Just got me a set of BKP Nailbombs with black exposed bobbins. Got them from our buddy Jerry at Luxxtone. Putting them in a Les Paul 59 VOS as we speak. Changing the pots and caps too. Wait, how the hell did I end up here?

Probably true. I found the Warpig to be a new metal slow riffing pickup, not a speedy thrash pickup. THe Painkiller though, that`s a different story.

Love my Nailbombs. Also using a Mississippi Queen in the neck humbucker position. (P90 on a hb frame)

Tim Can make a C-Bomb with double pole pieces that I heard kicks major ass.

I mean no disrepect but I find these types of comments silly. There are many great boutique pickup companies out there other than BKP. BKP makes great pickups no doubt and was at the forefront of the boutique pickup market but I found they didn't have a model perfect for my tastes, I happened to find that at MCP.

I hear Tim is a really nice guy that is easy to work with. Well so is Wade at MCP, Jeff at Higher Order , Bryan at GB pickups etc...

The boutique market is booming in every guitar facet these days. Practically everything out there is a "copycat: in some form or another. We have 9000 marshall copies that many are happy to accept as better than the real thing, the first marshalls were modified fender designs, we have superstrat and super paul guitars coming out of our ears, many considered better than the originals. Why should I view the boutique pickup market any differently? More pickups companies mean more tonal choices. No two BKP and MCP pickups sound exactly alike anyway. For that matter no two pickups from any manufacturers sound exactly alike. I would bet you would find similarities between all similar models though. There are only so many ways to reinvent the wheel.

It seems as if you are saying Wade called Tim to pick his brain about his pickups. whats wrong with that? Good market research is key to any companies success. I constantly probe my peers for information that can help my playing, tone, etc.. its kind of the reason we are all here discussing gear. If you knew Wades history you would know hes been winding pickups for a very, very long time. His first pickup wind was at age 15. His company did not start because of BKP success, he had been winding pickups locally his entire life. I first heard about Motor Cities about 6 years ago, his company may have even started around the same time as Tims.

Pretty much EVERYTHING out there these days is a "copy" of an existing design with improvements or changes to suit personal tastes.

I for one am glad there are so many flavors of similar products, it allows us to accentuate our individuality a little more, and find the products that are the perfect fit rather than settle for the best available even if its not "just right".

On a last final note I always buy American first if a favored result is possible. I'm happy to support my economy here at home first and foremost.

Have you ever entertained the scenario that one of the "copycat" pickups could actually suit your tastes better than a BKP in direct comparison? That's how it went down for me, I have loyalty only to my own tone.

I couldn't disagree more. I have Alnico Warpigs in two different Les Paul Customs and they are super responsive and tight as hell.

I have some Icebuckers in my lp custom, but I really want to try some alnico pigs in there. The C-Pigs where cool in there just so over-the-top. I bet alnicos would be cool though.

I just put an Alnico Warpig in one of my Jackson dinky's. There is nothing loose or undefined about it. That guitar has snarl and the the the bass frequency is far from loose now. I had a MCP Solution in the guitar and it was too tight. The BG Hellarail sounded great but it found a new home in my Adrian Smith Dinky. The Hellarail is a bit more compressed, a bit looser in the bass and it has a bit less snarl. However, it sounds thick and killer in that my Adrian Smith!
