AAHH yess....that's the flame retardant chemical that's being applied to many cloths' now. Don't it smell purdy....LOL!
I would think they should be a little more worried about the fact that the cabs are made of very dry wood then worry about the grill cloth..

that marshall check stuff from mojo does stink..kinda fishy smelling..not good at all.

That's a cool cab! Did they come stock with the checker cloth like that in a 2x12? I have an early 80s version with the tan color cloth but I think yours looks much better.
 
Greg, keep us updated on the project. I've got a '77 4x12 with the tolex worn and beat to sh*t, but the last owner replaced the grillcloth. New grillcloth + beat-up tolex just doesn't look right. I've got to age it somehow.
