Hey everybody,

This forum rocks! I live in the Central Valley in California and it is difficult to find people with the background and experience that you all have. I must say, I was stoked to find this forum. Unbelievable source of information. Anyway, while researching Charvel guitars here, I got inspired to build my own from acquired components. I finished the axe a couple days ago and I thought the pictures would make a good first post on RT.

Here's the build details:

So Cal candy green US body
So Cal US neck drilled neck through for new German Floyd lock nut
So Cal US neck plate
Schaler mini tuners
Schaler strap locks
Custom pickguard made by Pickguardian - Awesome company
Seymour Duncan TB4 Trembucker in bridge
Seymour Duncan SSL-2 in middle
Seymour Duncan SSL-2 in neck
German made original Floyd Rose
Floydupgrades 37mm brass block
500k CTS pots
Orange drop CAP

The lock nut that came with the German Floyd didn't line up with the top mount holes drilled in the neck, which was strange since I thought the Korean Floyd's that originally came on the US Charvel So Cal's were supposed to be made to the same specifications. Easily resolved by having my machinist father mill some holes through the back of the neck like they did on the 80's San Dimas made Charvel's, which I thought ended up giving it a cool vibe.

End result? This is my new favorite guitar. I want to build a single pick up model now. Unfortunately, single hum Charvel bodies are hard to find. Hope you like it. Very cool to be here.

Later,

--Dan S.

Nice Dan it looks great and welcome!! You'll fit in great here

Nice!

In swapping out some of the nuts on mine, I had to plug and redrill a couple of necks. I don't know why some locknuts line up and some don't.

nice looking guitar. i love my tangerine so cal. welcome to the forums !

 looks great and welcome, yea lots of great peeps here... was the build cost in the same area as buying new

Cool build! If you want a single humbucker one, grab a body from somewhere like Warmoth or Musikraft...

Thanks man. I'm in Fresno. Not much of a music scene. The company I work for is based here, so I'm SOL.

Thanks! It was about the same as buying a new one and replacing the Floyd and changing the PU's. Unfortunately, Charvel didn't build an HSS production model in the US with a 5 position switch. This was a lot less that buying a custom shop Charvel, and I got it a lot faster too, from what I hear.
