looked most if not all the new Charvels are pro mod models. I've read bad things about the USA select series and all of those I have seen were HSS.
I just bought a new custom shop Frenchie and I love it but I don't see anything new coming from the custom shop.
Looks like there are alot of new Jacksons coming out. I really don't understand the relationship between Jackson and Charvel these days. I thought Fender bought Charvel many years ago. Did they buy Jackson also?
The Charvel I just bought came in a "jackson" box.

Jackson has always owned the Charvel name, ever since Wayne Charvel left the company somewhere in the early 80s. Charvel has never been a separate company, just a different brand name, and when Fender bought Jackson they got the Charvel name too.

As far as the Jackson and Charvel relationship, I thought Fender had both of them and EVH which would explain them all being there together. I think it is one of those things where Fender "owns" them but let's them do their thing and run independent for the most part.
That sucks about USA select series and you hearing bad things about them. I was wondering about those just recently but you don't hear about them much. They just seem kind of "blah". I'm not a huge fan of the colors and pickups but liked the HSS config.

I bought the ProMod DK24 with the caramelized neck and Gotoh bridge last year and absolutely love it. I got the Green Drab one and it plays and feels as well as any of my other guitars (Suhr, Caparison, PRS, etc...) to me. I guess the model is doing really well. It's not in this Andertons video, but another one I saw they have 2 USA versions of the same caramelized neck. Looks pretty cool to me, but it'd be hard for me to justify that when the MIM one is near perfect.

I like their offerings, but can’t stand the control layout. That blade selector switch is such a turn off for me.

I played a MIM San Dimas hardtail a few weeks ago and couldn't believe how noisy the blade selector switch was on that thing. Sounded like I was changing settings on a chainsaw or something and buzzy noise and pops all over the place. Picked up another San Dimas and was quiet, go figure.
I know you have played a ton of Charvels over the years man. I'd love to pick your brain on what ones you think were the best of the bunch. I still think that Slime Green USA San Dimas I got from Chubtone when they first started doing those again is one of the best Charvels I've played. Like an idiot I sold it.

If the feel of the neck was the only great quality, that would be one thing, but you guys have to be loving the tones and the attention to detail, etc.
So great there are cheaper guitars out there that can hang with the expensive ones. Not everyone can afford those higher end ones so such a bonus.

Love the idea of ebony fretboards on charvels. Love the Jackson crackles and love the idea of a js 22 with a maple board
Good stuff...just wish they would do a more affordable JEL blueburst for us guys who can't drop big $$ on gear anymore

No definitely get what you are saying and not hyping it up. I remember years ago when I played a cheaper LTD guitar, I was like "What the hell? How can this cheaper guitar play and sound so good?". I remember a time when some guitars in the mid-range price point were super noisy, wouldn't stay in tune, and sounded like crap.

Let me say this...I hate maple necks. Hate them. But I like the DK24's so much I bought one. The necks feel that good. And the caramelized necks are even better. I wanted a Floyd thus the reason I did not buy one of those.
On mine, I've got to change out the Full Shred, never been a fan and I'm upgrading some of the parts on the Floyd. Fantastic guitar for the money and I can easily see where they would stack up with other super strat style guitars. My only complaint off the shelf is the input jack. I like angled connectors but that's just me.
