All I know is I just played Greg's (aka Hard&Heavy) Herberts. He has both the 6L6 and EL34 versions. The 6L6 just floors me. I love that amp! Just not at a point in my life where I can afford one. Oneday hopefully... anyways if this amp is somehow more to liking than the Herbert I will be speechless. Seems like Peter might be going for a more classic, less compressed high gain head????

If that's the case, then I can't wait to play one!

Only guessing. I think that was the reason for the Herbert MkII. The new transformer makes it a touch more open from what I've read. So maybe this is Peters way of cutting directly into the modded Marshall thing while keeping all the versitility and features his amps are known for. Again this is only my guess. I could be wayyyyyy off.

I just want to know WTF it is!

Hope it has channel 3 from the VH4 and a Fendery clean... That would be something!

I think the mk2 is, as you said, a touch less compressed, but there isn't much of a night and day difference between the mk1 and mk2 on the gain channels. This is going from memory of my mk1 and just getting a mk2. I will say that it seems channel 2 is a little tighter than the last one.

Maybe this is the best of each amp in the diezel line up all rolled into one??
That would be sick!

About time Peter finished it Olaf ;) Been a few years.

Can't wait to check it out

It's exciting, no doubt.

But my growing a rubbery one rests with the notion of a full tilt Diezel preamp with the best of ALL the amps :D

Less bottom end doesn't appeal to me - I love the throttle heavy BOOM of the Diezels. Thunderous, yet never losing its focus - that's art

It is still a Diezel, you know . . . ;)

My guess is this amp is a metal flavored diezel at a price point more similar to an Einstein.

What makes me think this is the single board that looks faster to build, midi only does channel switching and less bells and whistles. Im sure it's also another voicing to complement the line rather than compete with the flagships.

I thought the Herbert has one big PCB? Haven't seen a gut shot in awhile though...

You could be right, there is just something about the layout of the hagen pcb that makes it look like a dream to install. Killer work Peter!

Well, knowing Papa, I'm sure he partially listened to what people complained about Diezels (PARTIALLY), and tweaked the new amp accordingly, hense the "less hifi sound" and a little bit less bottom end. Those two where always things people kinda complained about them.

From what I hear guys want enough bottom end to fill for the lack of bass player in their basement, not less

I use Fruity Loops for my basement bass player

I for one find the Diezel bottom end a bit overwhelming........ but you have the deep/bass knobs to tame that......

ok guys i gotta know something.

Am i the only one that finds the whole PAPA thing annoying and pretty much like ass kissing?

seems like i see it alot now, im not trying to insult anybody but i just gotta know because i see it alot now and its not just 1 or 2 guys either. i liked it better when people would just call him peter like a normal person.
