A big surprise how good this thing is. Never had a grey spec 250. Now I know why early Yngwie had a superior tone. This kills the OD that was built into the YJM 100 amp as well as those brittle YJM 308 pedals, modded or not.

Sounds good... I have a grey spec YJM which was a definite improvement. I tightened the bass a bit too as the originals I find are great for single coils but too boomy for humbuckers. How is the reissue? Tight enough with humbuckers I presume? They must have made some circuit changes. Also in the highs, how do you find it? Mine extends my highs slightly which depending on the day I am either into or it bugs me.

I got it both knobs full up into the JVM JS Crunch ch, green mode. I don't think I'd even try this pedal w/ humbuckers. IMO more for single coils.
Not brittle at all like the 308. It smoked the MXR Distortion+ '76 reissue too.

Lifted from SRV  The first few notes anyway

I have the old yellow version........awesome with my strat, but too flubby with humbuckers. How is the new one any different other than the LED and true bypass? I also had a yellow one in the mid 80's that killed in front of my super lead. I'm curious about this new one.

If they were smart, they would have given it a toggle between settings for single or humbuckers. I am holding on to mine and another yellow/grey clone i have until i get myself a blackmore-ish git.

I had the original yellow DOD 250,...I thought I was badass, slammed it into my original crate amp!,..playing god of thunder

-back when crate amps actually looked like old wooden crates-

I had the old yellow version as well. I made it work for me for a while but soon found a much better lead pedal for me. The DOD was a little harsh.
Yours sounds pretty good here.

I have this. Guy on the Splawn forum named Outlier did mine. I had an analogman modded YJM308 that I was not happy with so I sent it off to Outlier to bring it to the same specs as the YJM pedals of the 80s ( that is grey specs….is it not ?). Anyway, he put the toggle in mine and its great. The pedal just rips…..you can unleash the fury for sure !

Sounds nice! I have an old 80's yellow version that's collecting dust. Now I wanna try it out again, I think that mine has a different chip then the gray version though.
