Me too, man....GREAT band since the first one. Not all to my taste, but you can't deny the musicianship present in this group of guys.

Hope it doesn't suck as much as their last several albums.

I thought the last album was killer.

A dramatic turn of events is amazing.

Breaking all illusions is one of the best songs they've ever done.

Looking forward to hearing it. I liked the last one alot.

I will have to check that one out. Last album I have from dream theater is train of thought, which left me pretty flat.

They've done quite a bit since TOT. I love that album! Agree, it's a bit one-dimensional compared to some of their other work but it's just a pissed off, aggressive rocker!

Agreed! I suppose that was the point behind the album. It's funny, though, that even their more 'straight ahead' pissed off stuff is still a bit cerebral.

Did they get a new singer? No. Oh, then not that interested.

Agreed. His voice is one of the most irritating voices in all of music. Fucking bums me out.

I thought Dramatic Turn of Events was right up there with Scenes From A Memory. Im excited for it (judging by my avatar)

I liked their last one. I look forward to hearing where they are going with the addition of Mike Mangini

They need a new singer and keyboard player. LaBrie and Rudess are just tooooooooo cheesy.

Glad I don't know "good music" from bad. There's not a DT album I don't enjoy.

Same here......can't think how much more disappointing life would be. :D

For the naysayers, the last one really was a return to the I&W days. So much so that you can almost line up the tracks and say this song = this song. I too came to loath what used to be my favorite band, I actually sampled and hated everything after the EP after Awake. A combination of Labrie, cheesy lyrics, Mike not being able to play a metal beat, circus keyboards, and ripping off other bands, I was done.

With all of that said, the fact that they took their time to write the songs outside of the studio and sit on them for a year and a half, having only one chef (John) and writing songs with room for James to sing and you actually get a great return to their roots, even if they are ripping off themselves. They aren't a heavy, brutal band, they're a progressive hard rock band. Stick to that formula and you've got a great record.
