You can buy the used Made in England models all day long, why buy a new one that is MIV?

Perhaps the features of the new amps are compelling, such as the 40watt combo with EL34's. Not many liked the DSL401 with EL84's.

If memory serves not many liked the HAZE 40 with EL34'S either...

True. Just trying to play devil's advocate. :D

I'd rather have the Vintage/Modern anyway, personally.

Or an Electradyne for myself. Ouch!

Who here that has questioned where these are built have an Iphone, Ipod, Ipad, etc..................

A total of $10 in labor is required to complete an Iphone at Foxxcomm, the factory known for employee suicides.

So an unstable workforce that lives where it works is ok for your I-whatever but not good for amps?

There's a big difference between buying a phone and an amplifier. I want to trust that my amp is going to be reliable and sturdy if I'm going to invest that much coin. Made in Vietnam is a deal-breaker for me. Same with the EVH heads. They sound killer, but made in Mexico makes me hesitate. It probably shouldn't matter, but to me it does.

not that it matters to the design or me but they do appear to be built in Vietnam even the 100. May bother some

The EVH 5150 iii 50 watt fans seemed to embrace the Vietcong.

They pulled the EVH5150III 50 watt from Vietnam, they are made in Mexico now.

A very fair question. I think the difference in the availability of choices makes it an apples to oranges comparison. There are a million companies making amps that are paying their workers a fair wage in the US, UK, Japan, etc.

How many choices do you have in phones? Pretty much none AFAIK. It has gotten to the point where slave labor is your only choice. If we don't exercise our better options with amps and guitars we eventually won't have any good choices there either.

^ this

Spend your money "at home" folks, or you can look in the mirror ten years from now when questioning why "home" isn't quite the place it used to be.

I used the I-Phone as an example of building something that was state of the art using low wage workers to put them together and they would last. I know of people using their 2007 original I-Phones still. Yeah good luck finding electronics here in the USA, not going to happen anytime soon. My company is going through beta testing for multiport OC-768 boards right now that cost in the 7 figures and they are built in the far east.

Nobody else here wants to buy american more than me, I bought 3 of the USA Charvels as I was tipped off that party was ending. Saturday I am bringing home to my wife a 2012 Chevy Tahoe to go next to my mustang and x300 USA john deere. My running shoes are USA new balance  The point I was making is that yes these countries can produce quality rugged electronics, not to buy them. Hell my Summers Tele is pretty much 100% american other than the tuners and they were made in germany and I supported several people here.

I will not buy any inport amp unless it was made in England and feel I have great choices with Mesa and several small builders throughout the USA.

I will not bring up the main reason for massive labor costs here.....................UNIONS................though :D

After the recent "Tet offensive gen 2" launched earlier this year, fender was forced to withdraw their production forces to Mexico.

Shortly thereafter Marshall landed on the beach and signed an agreement to take over the factories for their new DSL production.

WWIII?

Why do we assume workers making electronics in Asia are paid slave labor wages?
That's just plain ignorance.
They may not be getting paid $45/hr attaching bolts and turning wrenches on an car assembly line like in the US, but the Asian workers still make a satisfying and proud living.

I once watched a show about a manufacturing facility in China that made toasters, hair dryers etc. along with other simple and complex electronics right across the board. Thousands of items, with millions of part inventories.

That goddam facility was the size of a city. Literally.
It had malls, condos, parks, roadways etc.
All inside the facility. Nevermind the production floor space.
People there loved their job.
Frankly, their pride, attention to detail and organization is something that other nations need to take a long hard look at.

You are speaking of Foxcomm.

It is a city where you live, sleep, eat, kids go to school, play sports.....................and work. Beringer city is very simular. You never have to leave these places and per dozens of professionals they make an I-Phone for $10 in labor. Suicide rates brought Foxcomm to america's attention due to Apple love but in the end do americans really care how they got their I-Phone? No.

You NEVER leave.

I work for the fucking devil and I am sorry.

I hope the DSL40C is better than the DSL401, at least they went with EL34's on the DSL40C, but I am surprised they don't make a head version of that amp.

I also like that they added a half wattage switch on the DSL100H. No loop on the DSL15C is a deal breaker for me for that one...

I lived in Korea for a year and used to have meetings at Samsung headquarters and one of their production facilities. It had 75,000 people working there and was a city all in itself.

Oh, and the suicide rate was higher than Foxcomm's in China by a wide margin.

Everybody blames Apple, but I've lived in Taiwan, Seoul, Tokyo, and Hong Kong and its the same everywhere.

I cannot imagine anyon who builds amps for MARSHALL wanting to commit suicide

Seriously?! They can give it a resonance knob but not a separate eqs for each channel? WTF?! Do they want to sell amps or not?

I'm gonna bet that the DSL40C is a re-hash of the HAZE 40 minus the effects in an attempt to recover from the massive flop of the HAZE line. Personally, having both, I like the tone of the DSL401, especially run into a 4x12. Maybe I got a, "good one?"

Yeah Apple due to it's market hold brought the problem to light, I should have also included the other assembly mosh pits.

This must be why I am on my 5th iPhone. Like everything else made in China, they are crap. I've been meaning to complain about my Abercrombie & Fitch boxer shorts too. Since they moved production to Indonesia, the quality has went way down and they just don't last like they used to. The kids in the sweat shops just don't have it. There's a reason for the move to 3rd world countries....cheap labor. Cheap labor means cheap shit.

My used DSL has the little Brit flag and Made in England.

Any other diff in the amp aside of little kids assembling them? Maybe some of the same kids making those Polo shirts?
Maybe the people in Vietnam need there jobs so they really care. Rather than a bunch of chavs who don't care in middle England.
