From that article:
After starting out with his '58 Fender Strat, Eddie decided he wanted a heavier piece of wood for the body, so he bought a Strat-shaped body for $50 and a neck for $80.
And if you ask Lynn Ellsworth about that day at Boogie Bodies, he'll tell you that Ed picked a cheap body from the bottom of a reject stack behind a sawdust bin, and that it weighed about 12 pounds. But you have to take whatever Lynn tells you with a grain of salt.

Guessing this will be around $25k like the Frankie was.

They say George Lynch learned from Eddie... i think when it comes to gear whoring, ED went to the GL school!

I'm saying that as a fan of both of them.

Adding to the value and the once-in-a lifetime collector's nature of this package, Eddie Van Halen played "Eruption" from VAN HALEN in its entirety on each guitar and then signed the back of the headstock, which was video recorded for prosperity and will be presented to the instrument's future owner on an EVH thumb drive.

not sure yet whether I feel this is hokey, or kinda cool.

His striped series guitars thru Fender are pretty affordable and I was hoping they’d do something like this with the standard Strat style trem vs. the Floyd but as another member already said it’ll be about 25k

8k for a superstrat. Mmmm no thanks. Bet they play effortlessly and sound spectacular, but that's just too much in my book

Silly but awesome that he plays eruption on each one!

I hope whoever buys one of these 25k guitars will hurry up & upload to YouTube the vid of Ed playing Eruption on it

While I love Ed and everything VH... didn't he already fleece his Uber Fan collectors with the original $25,000 Frankenstein repop???????? C'mon, I imagine he might find some freaky fans that will buy them so good for him.

As for me... MEH!

I’m sure my stock Jap So-Cal is every bit as good or better for $500, due to an actual Floyd. Just another money grab. Hey Ed, go make some good new music if you need cash!!!

The fact that Eddie actually plays the guitar is a cool touch. With that said, you are paying for a paint job because these days you could get someone to make one of these for a lot cheaper.

lololololol

No thanks. Not even for $3k.

The funny part is EVH hasn’t produced anything of value in 20 years. Anyone else would have been fired from their job.

What a fucking joke. I knew is was going to be absurd, called that one.

1st thing I thought of when seeing this was the people on this board who were going to complain about the price...or worse yet, the "I'd rather get a ________ for $___ and put a _____ on it" guys comparing it to a usable guitar.

Guys.... these are special collectors items for uber-rich lawyer types, not guitars for players (don't we all already know that?), and the price needs to stay consistent with similar pieces. Furthermore....add up the total of all the guitars selling and what Eddie gets out of the deal...and he probably spends more than that on a weekend getaway a few times per year. In other words, it's not a big "money grab" for a guy in his league ($$$).

I see it as a cool offering for what my friends refer to as 'blues doctors'... the very wealthy super-fans who will enjoy the cool personal collectible traits of this type of stuff. Even if I had the $$, I'd never invest it in such a thing either....but I do enjoy seeing these sorts of releases, especially the 'personally played Eruption' idea here. Don't wait for your heroes to die to enjoy their sunset years...this crap is entertaining.
