Ugly as sin, do not want, can't understand why anyone would want this thing. Shameless branding as usual... I figure he only has another 5-10 years to milk his name before he becomes irrelevant so I guess all the power to him. Love what he has done in the past but I don't feel the need to play anything this ugly. If I want tribute axe I would get a polka dot V and call it a day.

Because polka dots are so great looking...lol

Personally, I find the Dano headstock to be a perfect fit for a star body shape, and as a huge EVH fan, who saw him playing this guitar live in 1980, I dig it and want one. Hope that clarifies why he may have thought someone might want this thing... As always, YMMV... but I'm getting one and I'm gonna jam the hell out of it...

Only 5 or 10 before Evh becomes irrelevant. Really. Last I checked Ed is as popular as ever and much of his work is still pretty badass Today.
Im reasonably sure his legacy will live long after he is gone.
Wanna talk about irrelevant has beens and shameless branding: Zakk Wylde and Kerry King come too mind.

It's not that ugly, it's unusual, and if it plays and sounds good, it is good!!!

*Waiting for this one to be released

I think it's really cool that EVH is giving People the chance to own these iconic guitars. Great day for VH fans!

Are you kidding' me guys? That is authentic to how Ed had the guitar set up for the '80 tour - it is a Danelectro style headstock. Ed put a Danelectro neck on that star for that tour. This is awesome!!!

Steve

Yep! Man guitarists can be a finicky bunch of bitches about looks.

Still ugly as shit no matter what Eddie had on it

Yep, do they just make shit, or do they ask people their opinion of it first?

That's the ugliest god damn headstock I've ever seen.

If they really wanted to make the guitar authenic they would have used a Dimarzio Super Distortion that's what Edwards had.

Unfortunately I don't think this forum is really indicative of the type of guitar players and their interests that are out there today... yeah there is a following for the 80's crowd, but there is just as big of a following for 7 string downtuned guitars and modern metal. That's all the rage too.. of course VH has a legacy that will live on.. I am merely suggesting that his brand and gear may not always stay as popular as say, a fender strat or a gibson les paul. The meat and potatoes of the rock world.

As for the polka dot V, I think it looks a hell of a lot better than this thing. (especially in Randy's hands but that is a given... ) The white Jackson looked kind of silly though. Wonder how many of those sell today? (besides to Children of Bodom fans)

I want this one and the circles guitar. Shit why not for the fun of it.

Those are the two I want also. They're off the beaten path, only diehards get it.

That reminds me of Akira Takasaki's esp star from back in the day. Still not sure if I'm a fan or not even if it is "correct".

Hmmm...short Japanese metal guitar player...Japan..."reminds me of"...copy...

That was the issue I had with Akira's axe too - that damn headstock... :scared:

Gibson Les Paul and a Fender Stratocaster real tough to beat, thats what Edward used in the early days anyway......

^ is it just me or does his shoulder look really weird in that pic?

That's just the cutoff sleeve of his shirt sticking out behind his shoulder. The picture looks a bit overexposed, making the different shades of white bleed together.

It's cool that they are trying to recreate these EVH used guitars, but I don't like the way Ed took good guitars and turned them into crap! Throw a different neck on there, saw off stuff, slap a broken pickup in the neck hole - great, showed that EVH could play ANYTHING and make it sound good.

I wouldn't want a guitar that was thrown together once for a tour and never used again.
