It's cool that they are trying to recreate these EVH used guitars, but I don't like the way Ed took good guitars and turned them into crap! Throw a different neck on there, saw off stuff, slap a broken pickup in the neck hole - great, showed that EVH could play ANYTHING and make it sound good.

I wouldn't want a guitar that was thrown together once for a tour and never used again.
I love the star shape and own a old charvel star.
I would not buy this for a few reasons, first it has his trademark all over it( i would not be caught dead playing someone elses trademarked guitar with graphics!) and that headstock i never liked
I would rather grab a $500 charvel star on ebay like this and mod it.
tell me this headstock doesn't work with the star body

Yup! A full destroyer headstock would be even cooler though.

You'd have to be a big fan to get that one! :)
I wonder if it has a 25" scale like a Danelectro?
I dig how Ed was such a tinkerer. Love it. As a guy who likes to slap things together, I can totally relate. Nothing but love for that cat. Legend for a reason.

I actually prefer the jackson pointy on this body shape
looks more futuristic to me.
Kramer used the gibson explorer style headstock on their voyager's in 83-84

actually this guitar had a mighty mite 1800 in it
if you look at the close ups of this guitar when eddie used it
the pu was this one(MM1800)

later this same pickup wound up in the shark where it is to this day ;)

And this is what I love about the EVH guys. You guys are like archaeologists. So cool.

Huge fanboi here...BUT if you compare the graphic against the original, it's not even close...the stripes are WAY too big. I'll pass.

Uhhh....the whole idea was to replicate his 1-of-a-kind guitar, therefore...changing the headstock would've been retarded. (I assumed people would know that clicking on this thread, but maybe not...)

That reminds me of Akira Takasaki's esp star from back in the day. Still not sure if I'm a fan or not even if it is "correct".
Yup. This was my first thought. I'd rock it.

Yeah, just like what we've seen happen with Hendrix. :jerkit:

Can you seriously be that fucking stupid??? Seriously??? You went full retard on that quote...maybe beyond.
I actually feel bad for you...it must be an awful burden to have one's head so far up one's ass so as to lead to a quote like that. Damn. My computer is starting to smoke...you may have broken the internet with your dumbassery.

I figure you only have another 5-10 seconds to shame his name before you become irreverent. ;)

Hectic!

I'd like to have one of these painted up like his 1st album black and white strat.

Aw c'mon - it isn't exact, but it's pretty close. Most of the elements of the original paint job are there, even if they are not the exact same size or in the exact same place. Probably would just be too expensive to duplicate it exactly for $1200 street... Close enough for R-N-R to me, my "order" is in with someone who'll be getting a few!

Now that you put them up next to each other, that is a terrible job. I can't believe he put that out himself. For $1500 I wouldn't consider it. For $700, it is close enough. That is some pitiful quality control for Mr. VH. I always liked that too, but damn, not even in the ballpark. Looks like the difference between Lynch's bones guitar and one of those imports that look like they were made by a little kid...or Ed Roman.

Well... what can I say? I don't agree, but everyone is entitled to their opinion...

So...the stripes/graphic should have been more authentic, but the headstock should have been less authentic. The knob is wrong too. Dots on the fretboard are the wrong size too. I don't even like stars, but I would only buy one with a strat head. Or pointy Jackson, or banana...does anybody even care about Eddie anymore (I'd rather listen to Tool)? I also like ham.
