I've gone 100x digital, and for a few good reasons.
In place of my 2/90/2 and fatbottom cab I now have a brand new Mackie HD1531
100101101100001001
more pics/clips to come.
I can't fathom how amazing it sounds, how clear it is and how loud it is. There are so many benefits to this setup I can't believe i didn't do it earlier.

nice isnt that like a 1000w poweramp ?

3-way crossover with an 1800w peak. I think its 1000w RMS
It is unbelievably loud, clear, punchy and linear. I never thought I'd ever go FRFR but it literally took less than a minute from me plugging in to deciding to buy this thing

very cool, if it sounds good, go for it, looks like something out of transformers =0

i still have to try one of those out, i'm not really into rack gear/midi controllers, did a short stint with a gsp1101 and a midi controller but didn't really do it for me, not just tone wise, just how everything was setup/controlled, so used to a pedalboard

great band btw, was listening to you guys a few weeks ago, sounds like a more djenty for the fallen dreams

Thanks for the kind words about my band dude, means a lot.

I was never keen on digital modellers until i got the axe, then it took a while for me to be happy with but now its a total gamechanger. It does take getting used to, even this is different, not quite like a real amp in the way it pushes air (low end response is out of this world) but if you closed your eyes you probably wouldnt know.
Im a set & forget sort of guy so it all works for me. And it does look a bit ridiculous but I'm so happy with it.
No longer will I have to worry about hitting the sweet spot when micing, live spillover, deadshit sound guys with crappy mics, tubes, a 60kg+ rack. Its all direct and this is for sound reinforcement, really couldn't be happier and I cant wait to use it live.
The other guitarist in my band will probably get one too haha.
What made me consider this option (never keen on FRFR before) was when we were testing tones/methods to track our guitars for our album and i was so happy with what i was getting and so aware of all the massive differences minute changes to every part of the gain structure and mic/acoustics made. Instead of leaving that up to the luck of the draw I'll now have the crushing tone in my head every single night with even more clarity than before and even less stuff to set up.

cool.... bet it sounds cool, how do you mic it up for a live show though ? or do you just the mackie has a stage monitor and go direct to the pa ?

Yeah, so that's my question too. If I take axe to a show, what outputs do I feed the house? And do I need to make any special settings for using it that way, also are you micin up the mackie or is that a personal monitor?
There are 2 XLR outs on the back of the Axe. You use them to run front of house and the 1/4 inch jacks (L) ( R)to your stage monitors. There is also a 1/4 inch L/R OUTPUT 2.

I use the XLR for recording into my Apogee Duet and the 1/4 jacks for my in room sound.

I now run direct to PA. no need to mic up
It has 2 sets of ouputs. 1x 1/4" jack sends a totally dry signal to my tuner at all times, one XLR sends to the mackie at line level, the other side of the XLR outs goes to the desk at -20dB (I set it up like this so it would be more similar to mic volume)

Taking some time off shows for recording for the next month, we do have a few here and there. I'll let you all know how it fares. Defiantely cut at rehersal, better than any real amp I've used because it's so much less directional. So stupidly loud too.

I still dont under stand how on e speaker can sound that great , but what does frfr mean??

I think those Mackie towers have three speakers in them and push out over 1000 watts, and FRFR means full-range flat-response. Basically, it's a fancy way of saying "PA monitor" if I'm not mistaken.

So you're not getting a stale artificial sound in any way without the tubes pushing your tone? It's just hard to accept that it can sound better now without the 2/90/2

I know, I find it very hard to believe but my ears don't lie.

What is that guitar sitting next to it?
It's one of my BRJ's.
Spalt-top Jekyll. If you search "nbrjd" you should be able to find a pic thread. I'd embed a pic but I'm on my phone!
