In place of my 2/90/2 and fatbottom cab I now have a brand new Mackie HD1531

Good to hear man, I love the whole idea of Axe-fx direct, no lame sound guys to contend with. Thanks for doing the leg work on the Mackie, I know it had big shoes to fill (Fryette amp and cab).

You guys still playing Shorefest in 2 weeks? Gonna catch my old drummer Josh doing his last gig with HOM, wouldn't mind seeing your set too if you have a time slot, seeing as it's pretty local to me.

Please let us know how it works out for you!

If possible get a mate to video it for us!

Peace

Very nice! If I were you I would change the heavy "hard" rack with a light rackbag. You would save some weight and you could even carry it easily with a single arm.

I've actually ordered an SKB 4u roto-rack for this very reason! The shockproof rack I have weighs 23kg!

So my old mackie must have been one of the first run because it crapped itself.
I swapped it for a new one today and took some shitty phone pics of it with my new rack.
My rack now weights 18kg so i can fly it which is pretty awesome. Last time i flew my axefx in a suitcase, even packed and padded it got owned by the baggage handlers and I'm lucky it didn't get ruined.

Anyway, after having this setup for a while I've really fine tuned it and reaped all the benefits, won't be going back to analog any time soon!

Cool rig bro. Being so obsessive about the details as I am though, I would have to get me a flight case made for the Mackie to piggy back the rack on. Looks good though dude.

Funny you say that because I've been looking into having a pair made (one for me and the other guitarist in my band).
We are in quite a bit of debt because of our album that we just recorded so we'll have to hold off until we can get some tour support

Awesome man, looks like a nice reliable, portable setup! Congrats and HNRigD!

You know, Tom Scholz from Boston had this same idea about 40 years ago... worked for him, too...

I'm on preorder lists for the both the DAR FBM-PX and Axe FX II, and I've been looking into FRFR options. How does the Mackie handle being used on band practices or venues without decent PAs? It seems enormously heavy to carry around, although smaller than a cabinet, but part of the reason to go FRFR is portability, IMO. Having something reliable for places with bad PAs would be great though. Is there any proof that the HD1531s have been improved since the first batch, since a lot of people have had problems with them?

The HD1531 is louder than any tube amp I've owned considerably, and extremely linear and clear. Their rep told me they had fixed the problem, and the other guitarist in my band has one from a later batch that hasn't skipped a beat so I'm sure they're sweet. I stick mine on a caster truck to get it around, weighs less than the ENGL cab that the other guitarist in my band used to use and has a much smaller footprint than a 4x12

wow, this is quite intriguing. must investigate!!! thanks.

Nice looking rig. How do you get the rack to levitate? :)

AxeFx can do anything i tell it to

Ahh, the David Copperfield patch!

Nicely done - on all counts... Followed this thread from top to bottom, great to read from you and get the update. Definitely a funky looking rig, but hey, if it's working for you Braddah, good job. Hope the shows are well and the weather even better. Mackie looks sick. And of course, the kit 'levitates' whenever you ask it to - brilliant

And hey, if you ever get any live clips of you and the band, video or what not, post it up man, we'd love to see it!! Thanks heaps...

Peace,
V.

Long live son of BC Rich!!!!
