New Les Paul day

Congrats. Older classics are great guitars for the dough. I believe that in 02 they still were all 1 pc body which is something found mostly on custom historic gibsons these days, and dark rosewood boards. I dig the 500k ceramics in them, don't change them.

the classics were all uncovered ceramics from memory, my friend has had one from new since 2001. Check the pickups in yours, they may be something else

I pulled these and all they say is Gibson.

They may be Alnicos but they're stock with this guitar.

They fucking scream and totally Rawk.

I put in mustard caps instead of the disc.

If they are stock then they are ceramics. Only the recent re release classics don't have the ceramics. Some are wound hotter then others though, pickup height, and the fact of a different guitar may account why they sound diff your goldtop.

Did some digging on google, pretty sure my pups are 57 Classic neck and 57 Classic plus Alnico II's.

Congrats Dan.

The difference you're hearing is likely due in part to the covers. Your goldtop has the same pups but no covers.
Edit: unless they're '57s...haha

The covers kill a little gain/harmonics but also tame some of the rawness.

I prefer covers on.

Nice looking fiddle!

The top carve on those early 2000's Classics are just killer. :)

the 57's and +'s I have are noted as such

Another look.

Awesome thru the DSL-100 as well.

Dewds on My Les Paul forum say pups are 496R & 500T with covers, never heard of that but meter seems to comfirm.

Readings were bridge: 14.57K & neck: 8.4K

Thats too hot for '57's. Maybe the covers were added.

Yep, they absolutely scream, they're hot like ceramic but don't sound like ceramic.

I have SH-5 Duncan Custom & 59' in my other pauls and they don't sound like those either.

They also don't sound like the 496R & 500T that came in my 2005 Goldtop Classic.

These Gibson pups have high gain, super good bite, tight bottom, no fizz, no mush, sustain and clarity.

This is literally the best stock guitar of played and not going to replace pups in 30+ years.

FYI...that black one isn't a Gibson.

It's kinda hard to get excited about a fake Les Paul. Right?

Orville & Orville by Gibson was made for Gibson in Japan.

Nothing fake about Orville, long neck tenon like CS.

Wouldn't spend a ton of cash on a repro myself but whatever.

Not the same as Edwards, or Epi.

Commence shitstorm ...

So much win \m/

I have 57 Classics in my traditional, great pickups.

Thanks dewds much obliged.

I work out alot and am a cyclist, i met a fellow female cyclist who is a soft tissue expert into yoga, Thai massage & Thai strecting among other stuff.

She did a pro-bono session on me yesterday as my shoulder has been killing me all year, since last year really.

Turns out ive had a dislocated shoulder all this time including working out with weights, roofing and 50 mile rides.

She put it back into socket in the coolest session ive ever had.

Pain free for the first time in many months.

Taking time off the gym to heal.

Thing i'll jam on that 1960 Burst today.
