i got a peavey jsx recently...ultra channel i find usable for some high gain stuff..but the crunch (amber) channel....really sounds good...especially boosted with a bbe green screamer....BUT...i just hooked up my DOD YJM 308 and boosted the crunch channel and holy crap....sweet sweet sweet.....now the bbe green screamer is better at a lower gain bluesy sound...more ts808 style....but for higher gain 80's style stuff....the $29 DOD YJM is sweet...a little noisy and definitely not as transparent as the bbe screamer....but sweet.....that's all.

The middle channel is my go-to at GC.

glad you're likin' in, Jason

yeah...ultra channel is usable for some stuff.....but the amber/crunch/middle channel is very nice...as much as i love the stock el34's...it's hard to try the 6l6's...but most everyone says the 6l6's sound better...hmmm...but the amber channel with a nice boost is killer....getting my g major in friday....looking forward to adding some reverb and delay

Glad you are liking it. That is one amp that I never got into (for modern gain)......this after thinking it sounded amazing when I tried it in the store. But the Amber channel in "Fat" mode was quite excellent

IMO, that would be a great amp if they would get rid of the active EQ and re-voice the mids of the red channel.

Supposedly the sweet spot comes on the ultra channel plugged into the low gain input.

first time i played one @ GC i found the crunch channel was the one. i didnt do a ton of tweaking but the ultra was just :aww: . i bet a mod and some 6l6's would bring it to life.
