I'm really digging George's tone on the LM albums since Sound Mtn Sessions. This latest album has some particularly juicy tones. Anyone know what gear Mr Lynch is using these days? I know he was using some of the Friedman amps a few years ago. Just courious. And does he actually use that Arcane pickup? Anyway... thanks for the responses.

Not sure what he's recording with but watching recent live vids form this summer gigs with Lynch Mob he was playing what I assume is the aforementioned 68 50 watt plexi and what looked like old 100 watt superleads or plexi's as backups, not sure if he is still biamping for cleans or not. Not sure if was boosting them at all, he was playing pretty clean... almost not enough gain but great tone... George seems to like the challenge.

It is amazing his hands have held up with his aggressive playing style at his age and the relentless live gigs he has been playing. He definitely has my respect.

This!
Just got the new disc, pretty cool. Diggin the grooves so far!

I posted a vid from youtube last week where he definitely was stepping on a plain old TS-9 for parts of the song he wanted to pop or where he needed a bit more gain. Even at that, he is not using extreme drive from the pedal because his tone is staying pretty clean. It definitely is not enough for his style and his old leads though but hey, the rythm sound is killer. Funny how he is essentially going back to playing a stock JMP/ 2204 circuit with all that signature gear he has available to him and all the modded stuff he has been associated with. That crunchy Marshall circuit just delivers the goods! Even with buffers, nothing beats just going straight into a MArshall. No other boxes. I find the amps always sound gainier and fuller that way.

Lots of truth here.
All you dudes who like a Marshall tone, but need MORE sometimes, don't sell of your nice vintage 800 or JMP. Keep it! It's such a great platform for pedals or just bone stock cranked.

Watched some of the new vids and man... I haven't heard Oni sing that good in years...he must be off the drinking and drugging more that he has in years. The last time I saw Lynch Mob live George was good as usual but Oni was pretty lit and he wasn't good. He must be enjoying a regular paycheck for a change...

Lynch Mob of 2017 sounds pretty damn good, at least on par with the early 90's maybe better... because Oni's not wasted every night!!!!!!!!

Oni definitely has not aged well and is the perfect example of what booze will do to ya... that said, he is def singing better than he has in a while and lets just hope it keeps up in time for the December gig I am going to.

Did you guys notice the Bogner Modded JCM800 to the right of the 68 50 watter at the Whiskey show video? It doesn't look like it's turned on. The 50 watter definitely is on.

The guy doing the video pans over very quickly but BAM there it is... BOGNER!

I do find it interesting since George is a TONESNOB and can play any amp built today and I think he realistically probably has played them all... he takes out a 48 year old plexi on tour to play live, now there must be something very special he likes about that amp.

Maybe we should take the time to list all of George's signature gear that he doesn't play? I'll start:

Randall Lynch box first generation
RAndall LB100 second generation non modular
MTS modules: scary, judge, grail,Super V
Eminence Super V speaker
Celestion Lynchback
Randall Head Hunter amp
Zoom pedal (forgot the name)

What else?

How about amps he's known to have played live and or said to have recorded with:
Aspen Pittmans 1973 Marshall Superlead 50 or 100watt? Not sure
Soldano SLO
Mesa Dual Recitfiers
Marshall Plexi's and Superleads of all sorts
Randall RG100's
Diezels
Yeah the famous Randall Lynch( Hiss) BOX,(I went to one of his clinics in the the early 2000's and it hissed horribly)

I know there's been a shitload more but...I'm tappin out for now...

Of course there is more!

Friedman BE
Trainwreck
Trainwreck clone
Bogner

the list goes on...!

I have a Lynchbox modular.. I actually dig it with his modules. In fact, I think he would probably find that gain he was missing live now if he actually used his brahma and scary modules!

I know he used a Dirty Shirley on the first KXM.

He used a bunch on the second KXM release including his Headhunter and the Bogner Marshall.

I own a 50 watt limited release Headhunter designed by Fortin and it's a killer single channel hot plexi style amp. I'm really surprised he's not using them live.
