This amp is full of Win..
I usually am a 6l6 guy but I think I preferred the 34's in this video. just sounded warmer. This amp sounds soo good to me

definitely on the clean and lo channels. on the lo channel it sounded like it had more gain/crunch... wondering how loud the amp was running or if he (accidentally?) notched up the pre.Audioholic":2gkohbxh said:

cool vid, preferred the el34 , warmer and thicker tone in all the different settings imo

Preferred the EL34s myself. A lot warmer and thicker. The 6L6s are a lot more tame it seems. More focused of a tone.

I dunno, I question whether this is really an accurate representation of the two tube types in the amp, you can def hear the different characteristic differences; however I think there needed to be volume leveling between the two types. Generally speaking 6L6's from my experience seem to have more low end, especially noticeable on cleans and that wasn't the case in this video, I always felt like the 6L6's were just more quite than anything else, and obviously had less of the upper mid spike. Either way both sounded good, El34's sounded a bit more pushed if anything.

Agreed on the volume leveling. Other than that, tonally it's what I expected to hear. The 6L6s are rounder sounding while the 34s have more mid focus and bite. I like Don's demos. He consistently gets pretty good tones dialed in, although sometimes they are a bit too "chirpy".
I personally like 34s or kt77s better than 6l6s in most Boogie's, and this one seems to be the same. Going to try some 34s in my Mark iv's outer sockets soon.

34's in this amp apparently just want to be there.
something was "off" though sync wise with that slide out he does in the end of the vid during the el34 part....
love me the 34 sound in that amp though....just sounds bigger and fuller, and obviously louder...as no changes were apparently made to the amp during the test other than the tubes.
