I had mentioned in a another thread regarding rectifiers that I was going to pick this amp up over the weekend.
My original plan was to have it modded to Rev C/D spec, or at least as close as it can get, based on a post provided by Racerxrated

I'm actually second guessing that. For shits and gigs I took it to a session where I am tracking a younger local hardcore band just to see how It sounded vs my KSR Modified Rev G. After A/Bing the two amps, both myself and the band preferred the non modded Rev G for what they were going for.

I haven't a/b'd it with my other guitarist's Rev E dual rec, but it is very reminiscent to his, which is my favorite rectifier I've played. The mids are a bit more forward and aggressive in a way I find really pleasing.

Now I'm conflicted on what to do, but either way, I'm happy to have this amp back again. (I owned it once before about 5 years ago and sold it to a friend, he's moving so I bought it back)

Ya, keep it stock. You'd probably regret having it modded.

There's a great breakdown of the Mesa Mark III stripes all over the web.
Is there something similar for the various DR revisions?

The way I did those mods, they can be easily reversed...I didn't remove any resistor/cap I just jumped over them; I did clip the 1 LDR but I could have put it back easily. The pots of course are super easy to put back to stock.
So you can try it, and revert back if you wish very easily.

Mine is from late 95 with the attached cord and only 4 speaker outs. The only mods it has is a series loop and a send-level bypass mini-toggle switch in place of the old blend knob from the parallel loop. I considered also going to 1meg gains but I really didn't want to change it's fat juicy feel. Maybe I will someday still.

If it just strikes you right, as is, I wouldn’t mod it but it seems the changes aren’t too invasive so could be worth a good a/b video. Record playing it stock with one or two different settings. Get it modded and record the same parts with knobs in the same places, with the same guitar, boosts and edit them into one vid.

Damn it. You bought it. I saw that pop up on Craigslist and took a long look at my bank account. I shouldn't have snoozed.

Haha! Sorry my man. If it makes you feel better, he was a friend and gave me right of first refusal as I am the one who sold it to him years ago so I just don't think it was meant to be on your end ?

Havent gotten a chance to spend any additional time with it since bringing it home. Big video editing crunch to get things done before taking a little spring break out of town vacation with the fiancee this week.

Will put some thoughts into the mods while I'm away but my gut says to leave it be as is and wait for another deal on a rev g to find me and mod down the road! Science will be done, one way or another ?
