Hey, I just wanted to share my opinion of the Tonenerd Psykes. I would also like to give a shout out to Japetus for his generous giveaway. Thanks man!
I have had a few days to play with this pickup and have to say; Scott knows his shit. This pickup is kickass! I wanted one of these for the Hetfield tone and it brings that in spades, but I was suprised at how versatile it is too. Under high gain, it holds together very well. Open chords still chime and note seperation/clarity is as good, if not better than my BKPs.
When it comes to riffing, this is a killer. Open palm mutes slam hard and still stay tight while sounding massive. The EQ is a bit strange but in a cool way. It has a flat sound to it with a massive low end which gives it a great feel under your hands. Also, I have never played a P/U that shows your right hand dynamic so well. It actually threw me off for a couple of minutes but once I got used to it its actually amazing.
I put it in my old 89 Gibson lite and used my 87 lite with nailbombs to compare it to. It more than held it's own with the BKPs. There are obviously different flavors but neither was head and shoulders beyond the other. Scott's winds are not just hype. This pickup is killer. P.S. Scott, please make the neck version you posted on youtube available to buy soon.
I've included a couple of pics of it in my old lester, its beat to death, I've had it since I was a kid and havent played it in a few years, but now it's getting all kinds of use.
