New Pots/Wiring on Pickups

So I have my Edwards LP for sale as I am still not jiving with the pickups. When I bought the guitar, it came with 2 Seymour Duncan P90's. I swapped them out for DiMarzio P90 sized buckers but I still want a bit more punch out of them. It was suggested that maybe I should try replacing pots/wiring. Would this make any difference?

Rio Grande makes a nice Humbucker in P90 format. A fat PAF ish type.
The Dimarzio I had was too bass heavy.

500k pots should be used with buckers, yes.

Depends on what's in there. 500K volume and tones will get you a bit more top end. Playing with pickup height and pole pieces can yield alot of good results.

I used to have good luck with single coils when I added a Torres mid boost (passive) in place of the tone control. Added that extra little bump in the mids to actually make a bridge single coil in a strat more usable. Not sure if that's still available, but I'm sure something similar is somewhere.

You could put an active boost in there and get as much punch out of it as you want, but because of the nature of the pickups, they just won't ever sound exactly as full size buckers.

If you dig the guitar, I would try some options. If not, just sell it and find something with full size humbuckers.

This is my concern. I can have it routed for humbuckers for about $100. I have it up for sale now. If it doesn't move, then that may be what I do. It's a fantastic player. Wasn't sure how I would like the P90's. They just aren't for me.
