Got my ART SLA-2 in today. Shit is pretty sweet. MUCH quieter and MUCH better sounding than the bass amp Ive been using. As always, I deliver pics and clips!! Ninja into hardwire cm-2 overdrive into mako into art into buzzbomb, recorded with e609 into emu 0404...you guys know my shit by now lol.

I tried my Mak4 through a Rocktron Velocity 150 (SS) and while it sounded decent, it was nothing compared to the way it sounds through my VHT 2150. Try to run your Mak4 through a guitar tube poweramp sometime if you haven't already. It really makes a hugh difference having that pronounced lowend and girth of a tube poweramp.

Thanks six!!

srommes, I tried running it through a couple of tube power amp sections...(6505+ and TITAN). It was pretty damned awesome through the titan, but I wasnt a huge fan through the 6505. I actually prefer it through the ART over anything else, so far...which also includes the bass amp I was using before, and impulses (I have about 50 impulses that I ran it through). I prefer the razor sharp/tight feel of SS, plus, I like a power section thats just gonna be straight clean. I dont like power tube break up at all, my distortion has always come from the preamp. This is the best so far, but I will certainly try out other options as they present themselves. I spent pretty much all my money on this setup, and my power amp budget was pretty low, however, Im damned happy with my choice

I ran mine through at TOA solid state power amp and it sucked. Anemic and thin sounding. It's a real beast through the Fryette 2502. I tend to like makoplex over the Dorado for high gain sounds but I spend most of my time on the crunch channel. The clip sounds good through the ART, especially for that style of playing. Nice that it takes only 1 rack space as well.

Thanks dude. Yeah, I imagine it would sound awesome through something like the 2502. I like LOTS of gain, and a little bit brighter of a tone, so the Dorado is basically perfect for me.

You were not kiddin Raf, that is a really nice tone. I dig.
Congrats on a cool setup man.

Thanks gsx!!

Dime...one day, but like Ive said a hundred times lol...its gonna be like 2-3 years before I can afford anything big.

Sounds killer Raf! I like it. It would sound awesome in a mix.

Oh yeah, for sure man!! Itll work for a couple years, until I can get a VHT or Mako power amp or something.

Thanks dude!! Yeah man, I fucking LOVE LOVE LOVE this amp!!

Look for a deal on a Peavey classic 50/50. They are usually about $350, at least that is what I paid for the two that I have owned. Having the presence, and resonance is really nice, and so far this is the best sounding setup I have had. I started with a Mesa 50/50, it sucked, then the power section of my wife's ss bass amp, much better, and now this just kills!!!

I dont think its worth it for me to spend that much when its not really what I want. If I end up going tube, Ill probably be getting a VHT 2502.

+1 on the Peavey 50/50 for a killer tube power amp on a budget(any budget as far as i'm concerned). If your lucky, you can sometimes find them cheaper. I sold mine to a fellow RTer for $225 shipped in late December. Lot of features on that amp and it sounds great. Just a thought.

That does sound good, from what I can tell, but its hard to tell based on this type of video how much different it would sound. Honestly, for now, the weight and low maintenance of SS has me good. If I coulda easily found the peavey for 225, then I might have gone with that. My budget for a power amp was under 300 for now, and Ive been happy with my decision. I dont see the point in going crazy to try to find one of these when I a) dont have any money to spend on it now, b) am perfectly happy with the SLA, and c) its not really what I want.
