New PRS custom 24 day. Clips, Diezel Herbert. AGGRESSIVE!

My wife decided she wanted to buy me a new 35th Anniversary core model custom 24. That was swell of her

So, I absolutely love these pickups. They are hyper percussive, super scooped midrange, tons of highs and lows, EXACTLY what a true vintage PAF sounds like. They are extremely aggressive, and I love them so far. Just a basic clip with a stupid riff. These pickups are insane sounding clean, split, low gain tones, leads especially. Doesn’t matter, they rule to me. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I love it so far! Pretty aggressive setup tone wise:

I love how you use Channel 3 for rhythm riffs too . I see many people act like it’s just for solos . Ch. 3 mixed with wizard MTL2 is my main tone . What tubes you have in Herbert?

Yea man, ch3 is where it’s at often for me. People come up with dumb “rules” haha. Ch3 is tighter, I dig it. However Ch2 is definitely more open and less compressed/dynamic, which is killer too. They are both killer to me, I could use either/or, but the feel of ch3 is just perfect to me.


Mine has KT77s, gold lions. Biased at about 40-45 ma’s a pair, much colder than stock.

And killer recording too. That'd be a great base for a quad tracked death metal tone in a mix.

These are some of my favorite guitars ever for heavier tracks. Les Paul big sound with Super Strat tight low end.
Mine doesn't sound like an old PAF at all, tho. It has an absurdly high output, but with sweet high end and huge low end. Unlike my vintage Les Pauls with 50s PAFs, which are more mid focused.
Could also be the difference between the Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and the old 87 T&B pickups.

What’s the output on your older ones Tiago if you don’t mind me asking? Or have you measured them? That’s interesting!

I'm not sure. I'll check them out now. They sound 10x bigger than a PAF. Not a bad or good thing. But just completely different. At least the ones I have.

11k on the bridge and 8.5k on the neck. Still tighter and a lot bigger than my 5150 Kramer with a 14k on the bridge.
By the way, my PAFs are 7.15k B and 7.4k N in my Rossington, 7.6k B in and 7.2k N(T Top tho) in my 52/57 conversion, and 7.8k B and 7.5K N in my 54/59 conversion

That's why I like my PRS, it's extremely percussive, like an old Les Paul, but it's a lot tighter and more aggressive, with a lot more body and clarity.
My 52/57 conversion and my Rossington are still my fave humbucker guitars, and I find it hard anything else beating them for rock and roll and classic rock. But when it's time to play heavy, I still haven't found anything else out there that can do it with more class and aggression like a CST24.

That guitar through your Rectifier or your Mike Morin it's the heavy tone of the 90s.
Please, do some Morin tracks with it when you get a chance.
