It now has the HFS and Vintage Bass.

I keep hearing the 57/08 is the good stuff.

I was leaning toward a set of Crossroads for my LP. I like a more rock pup. The guitar will be for classic rock and bluesy rock mainly. Amp used would be DSL and Dr. Z, MKIIC maybe. The guitar to take and play a wide variety of music.

I know it isn't an LP. It is fairly light and covers lots of ground now with the 5 way switch. It just sounds a bit bland.

Ideas?

Thanks

I have a set of Aldrich pu's in my custom 24 and they sound really good. They also split very well.

I also have a JB in my other custom 24 and it sounds good as well.

I really like the Rio Grande genuine texas in the bridge of my singlecut, my custom 22 has the Dragon I's in it and those aren't going anywhere. The Rio Grande is warm, punchy, fat and has great articulation. It can cover a lot of ground too. Low output pickups to me are perfect for rock and blues and metal too :)

I searched and found a few threads on the dragon pups. The 1 gets more love than 2.

I may do something different with that 5 way rotary. I hate that thing from jump.may put a chicken head on it.

DGTs get my first vote, Dragons 2nd. Never had a PRS with anything other than PRS pickups though. During the swap I sent my 24 to PRS and had a toggle and zebra DGTs, sounded pretty damn good when I got it back!!

I had the WCR Darkburst/Godwood combo in my old PRS and they were incredible!! Beautiful when split too!

I just purchased a 2012 PRS Custom and it has the 59/09 mt and I like them, but I might change my mind later on. I like the mids and the top end and not to hot. I'm not into hot pickups

WCR gets mad love. I need to try them. Possible LP pup change as well. I have some Motor City's but the are Solutions, high gain killers for sure.

That LP Custom you have for sale looks sweet. The picture of rock and roll right there.

I have lots of pups around the house, just no lower gain ones. With the ultra gain amps out there, it def seems the way to go, have at least a few. I'm thinking a trip to GC will work to try out the tone.

Dragon 1's and Dragon II's are totally different animals. The II's are very average to me, the I's are about perfect. I love the tonal variations you get with the rotary but it's a pain to switch from bridge to neck like I like to do for leads. never thought about a chicken head knob but I like the classic look of the PRS rotary knobs.

As far as PRS pickups go, I'm in love with the DGT set. Dragon II's are pretty weak in my opinion.

As far as WCR goes, I use a Godwood and it's an absolute pickup killer. I've gone through Duncan/Bare Knuckle/Bill Lawrence/DiMarzio and WCR just nailed that sound in my head that was so hard to translate into words.

+1 for WCR. I have darkbursts in my SC245....it made a massive difference from the stock PRS pu's.
I don't think you can go wrong with WCR.

Have WCR's in my suhr and it is a totally different and better guitar too. Went with the murkat/darkburst combo there.
I know where my next pickups will come from.

they are expensive but you get what you pay for IMO.
I would get the WCR pots and caps too.

I doubt any other pu's mentioned will make the difference WCR's would IMO.

I need to go out and try some more Humbuckers! I've been a Strat guy for awhile using stock pick ups,EMG's Single coils,Kinman and Joe Barden. I see all these pick ups that people are mentioning and I have no clue about them! I use stock Gibson classic 57 on my Les Paul and they're ok. I like the Joe Barden two tone, they're very powerful but still retain the brightness that I like. I also tried Bill Lawrance and they were pretty good. What are the best Humbuckers out there now? I like them to be bright but not thin and not too powerful. I have the Franlin PAF and they were to dark for me.

I just bought Code001's Alnico II set. Got a few guitars to roll them thru. The WCR's are on the list. Probably get 3 or 4 and try them.

I was literally in the same boat until yesterday, I decided on the Bareknuckle VHII's for my custom 24.
Other considerations were:
- BKP Abraxa's (a little more vintage voiced)
- BKP Rebel Yell (classic hard rock)
- Motor City Angel Dust

I really wanted to go with MCP's but Wade had 5-6w wait before he could get them out to me and I needed them relatively soonish. Tim and the team at BKP were great at helping me choose what I was after.

I've got a set of 5909's in my SC245 and they sound great for a stock pickup, a little honky and not as articulate as I would like but decent for most applications with the PAF vibe.

All pups listed including the WCR are winners! Can't go wrong with either IMO.

Cheers

Harmonic design has some good stuff, and while I "kind"
Of love the SH6, I think it sounds pretty cool the way it gets split
On with the rotary

Ordering some WCR's.

Getting the Darkburst neck, Godwood bridge. They come ready for a PRS rotary switch as a no charge option. The price is 325 on the site but then drops to 290 when you put them in your cart.

That is not expensive for high quality pups.

Giggity.....
