That is a great idea. I learned a lot about safes by watching a video on youtube. I would post the link but they have youtube blocked at the moment. Go to a guy's channel called weapons education and he has an info video about safes, construction, cost, MIA, MIC, ETC. If they unblock the site, sometimes they do, I will post the link.

I think it'll be a decent defense against your average smash & grab type of break-in's.

Or to hide new guitar purchases from the wife :D

If I ever feel the need for one of those I'll just move to a better neighborhood. Plus all my gear is covered by homeowners insurance... If I owned an original 59 LP or something I could see the reasoning tho.

Don't be naive, no neighborhood is immune to a break-in. The neighborhood I live in is not known for break-ins, but that still doesn't mean it can't happen. And yes, all my gear is also covered by homeowners insurance. But, that doesn't help me as much when many of my guitars are customized to my specs, not off-the-rack production models that are easily replaced. I'd have to put new orders in, be on a waiting list (for higher prices), and then might not turn out as well as my originals I once owned. I very much like the ones I have now, so just under $1K is a small price to pay to me to help prevent them from walking off. Besides, I've got over $10K in there just for the few guitars I have....and I plan for that number to grow. It's just extra peace of mind, that's all. And, don't forget that the safe will always have some resale value down the road....should I ever feel the need to sale it. So, I might lose $300-$400 in the end on the whole deal....big whoop.

Under 1k? Damn that's not too bad. I assumed it would've been much more expensive, but I really know nothing about safes.

It was $899 with free curbside delivery. Which is really good for that size of safe. I wouldn't want to spend more than that myself. I saw a seller on eBay that had a smaller safe, with the interior all decked out for guitars....but, he wanted $1,199 plus shipping, which would've been over $1,500 my cost. For the one of similar size to mine, he wanted $1,649 plus shipping. So, I feel I did okay. :D Here's the link to the ones on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Safes-for-Guita ... 1c30a607c4

Yep. In addition to that, it will protect against natural disasters and other AOG. Not to mention, you've got space for important paperwork, cash, gold, whatever.
