As far as the Cameron comments above....there's only one for sale on this forum and I think they want $5k for it. Check the classifieds.

"3 grand" is not great amp for the buck. The Peavey 5150 is great amp for the buck. 3 grand is just expensive.

I'm the last person that would criticize for paying a hefty amount for a killer amp if it's the sound you're after, but I gotta admit, I didn't expect to see that number thrown out when I read "great pricepoint" and "bang for the buck".

If it doesn't do it for you, even a $500 amp can be a waste of money.
I'd say 100s of 1000s of dollars are "wasted" every year on gear that doesn't do it for people. :)

I guess it depends on who's bang and who's buck.

People are willing to pay $3k or more for bogner, diezel, soldano, Cameron, etc

???

Not me, buy used. Plus, you can turn around and flip a Cameron or Soldano and get back what you paid.

Yep a Soldano SLO or Bogner XTC hold there value extremely well. Cameron resale is off the charts good.

I would put Fortin resale on that list as well.

Supply and demand, baby.

Not just amps either I own one of his guitars and I would say it has the organic feel of a tyler/grosh with the precision of a Anderson/Suhr. He also does a set neck or bolt on, killer guitars, very warm. His company will blow up its only a matter of time. Great guy as well and super customer service.

+1

Gear futures

IMO the XTC has crap resale if you bought new.

i think that goes for most amps in general, especially the boutiques.

on the other hand when you buy em used, you can usually get back what you paid for em.

I had one but it just didn't sound right. I had played one at Tone Merchants and HAD to get one afterwards. I don't know if mine was a dud, I mean it sounded really good, just not the way I remember the one at Tone Merchants sounding. :dunno:

Either way, I definitely recommend trying this thing out. If anything, just for the cleans

Let's see, you bought one used, it obviously took a hit in shipping since the trannies were bent in the photos I saw. The power tubes may have also been damaged so your solution, even after I offered to look at it and make sure it was working right, for FREE, was to sell it and subsequently get on this forum to say it didn't sound right. It wasn't a dud when it left here.

That's what I figured (as I stated). Definitely plan on picking up a nice new one someday. Didn't mean to give the amp a bad review, I have the utmost respect for your products and your company. I mean, who in the industry has better customer service? No disrespect meant, my apologies. Didn't intend it to be read that way. :D

I just got one of these and I am blown away. Tons of gain, sustain is infinite, punchy low end, no flub.

I have a Fortin Cali and a Landry LS100 that I love. This amp is every bit as good, and has better features than either. I've been hesitant to A/B them because I'm afraid I might have sell one of them.

The only tweak I made was a lower gain preamp tube in the first OD stage.

PWE is gonna be around a long time. Great, great amps and guitars.

I posted that its a great price point because I have NEVER seen or heard an amp that is in the same price range that is even remotely in the same league as this is. When hanging out with friends, jacking around on the thing, we all pretty much agreed its like a Germino Club 40 on channel 1 and a XTC Blue channel on channel 2 but it has a way of adding clarity to every single note played, even when hammering out chords with the gain cranked up. It also has a built in attenuator that actually WORKS!! You can run it at bedroom levels with it on its lowest setting (15 watts I want to say) and still have some killer tones on it. Its an extremely dynamic amp to say the least, and is priced MUCH LESS than its nearest true competitor...hence my statement of great price point, as I played it first and then asked how much they cost new and was expecting it to be a grand more than I was told....not that it matters since I am as broke as broke gets and couldnt even buy one of the led's on the faceplate, let alone the whole amp...LOL

THe MSRP on a 20th XTC is 4400 dollars
Wizard modern classics are up over 4 grand out the door
Fortins and Camerons are over 4k
Friedmans...not sure what they sell for but I am guessing at least in the 3k range.

So I am not sure how 2700 is so out of line when its WAY cheaper than most amps that are talked about here on this forum....

"." = I don't want people to read what I wrote so I replaced it with a "." for whatever reason.

I had to check in again and say this amp is dynamite.
Versatile as hell from Hendrix to Rush to VH to STP to Alice in Chains or Godsmack, you dial it up and it will do it.

Sweet. I still want to play one. The 50 watt sounded phenomenal at last year's Ampfest (Lugo's).
