I like suhr and all that he creates, but I find all of his amps stiff and hard to play. I really disliked the PT100 for that reason. I wonder if this amp will be the same?

I would be willing to give this one a test ride ... ;)

Agree. John is a class act for sure. But not a fan of the amps I've tried. Not comfortable to play. Although I haven't tried an SE+, which I hear are the ones to play. As for guitars, I really like his standards, but those moderns are kinda goofy looking shape wise...

I had an od100 std and an se+. The se+ is way easier to play and dial in than the std, but I didn't like how the low end tracked - it was unpredictable with its ability to track fast, gained out riffage. I heard the whomp ii improved it, but I never revisited it. Now his clean channels, on the other hand, are a force to be reckoned with in the channel switched world. This head does peak my interest a bit, though.

I'll go out on a limb and say it gonna
Sound like a Marshall
The SE100 the PT the Blackout they all sound similar
Like Modded Marshall
The reason gain is low is because this amp likely has twice the gain as his JMP

I remember playing the Suhr amps and remember only liking the clean channels on them, I disliked the gain channels very much on them. However the PT100 I thought was a pretty cool amp. The Suhr amps like many others are these expensive boutique amps that I still don't like nearly as much as a regular Mesa Mark IV or a boosted JCM800.

Agree. Always stick with an 800. I have tried one of his amps before and it was cool but felt a little dark and woofy in the low end. Not for me... especially at that price.

Agree as well. I bought a new SL-68 about 2 years ago, and it was kind of a head scratcher. It just didn't sound to me like 3k worth of amp. I have the real deal 68' super lead (80 serial numbers away from the EVH 12,000 head), and the two just didn't seem even close. Took a bath selling the Suhr. Maybe should have tried an SE. This does look interesting tho. Anyone know if there are clips?

Found this video on youtube, I was actually at this gig, for some reason the cab wasn't mic'd that night, guitar was only audible if you were standing in front of Doug's side of the stage, he had the Suhr amp underneath the Marshall, not sure which one he was plugged into that night but I'm guessing they probably sound similar, the Marshall was probably also modded by Suhr

I didn't like that tone from the phone vid. How was it in the room?

That's because what he makes the clean channel sounds so awesome with affects the dirty channel

If you look on the Dead Daisies' facebook page there is a recent video of them at rehearsal where Doug is using the amp. Sounds good to me. I'm sure it will be a killer amp, but will also be well out of my price range.
