New Synergy Marshall JMP module

It was a limited run and I believe they were charging 100$ more just for the purple plate.. marketing at it's finest! Purple ones have more mojo!

The morning the SLOII was released, and I went to the Synergy website and saw the purple option, the $100 was inconsequential to me. Take my money!

If you want to have maximum ridiculousness, look at the european market for this. The upcharge for the purple front is 170 Euros or 199 $.

The new JMP or the Vai module also have non-black faceplates and cost the same as other modules. So really, with the SLO2 module it comes down to simply messing around with customers.

100% agree. There is no reason NOT to go purple now for Soldano. I get the others are going to do what they do but you sort of want the big boys to be in their OG colors. Purple or snakeskin for soldano, Marshall Gold, Peavey silver, Vox could to that burgundy/Brown. It just looks sharper and should be considered for the "official" licensed models.

So I got my JMP module in today and like the others, i will need to get used to the sound of this one but for sure I like it. There is definitely a stringy feel and a sponginess in this thing that the other modules do not have. BUT there is also a ton of bass. You really need to be careful with this as it can get out of hand like the real amp. I will be honest though, I still prefer my OG correct spec brahma. That thing cooks. I can get this close but the voicing or attack seems less " strident" if you will.. that said, this does the bloom thing. It's pretty cool. Also a bonus is that you can tighten vol 2 which you cannot in a real plexi. I like that switch in the middle.

As for gain, I think it is way too hot. Probably where I have it or a bit more is a full pin Plexi gain wise. If you think you will run it full out and get lead tones, I don't see it. As others have mentioned, just stick with the Killer Kali for that. I posted a Pic of my brahma to show where they are set and where they are close in gain.

Tonight I am going to get a few more hours with the JMP at volume. Going to adjust my settings based on something Leon Todd mentioned about the master. I had it dimed when I tested the other day. He said that keeping in the noon range tightens it up a bit.

Still looking for a Brahma to replace the JF Brahma I had back in the MTS days. Loved that mod!

It does look cool though. I wish all the Synergy faceplates were more interesting.

Yes , cranked on the MV and it is hard to tame bit im convinced they are probably using .022uf coupling caps common in a lot of plexis where I have gone .0022uf ( a common mod) in my clone and it helps tighten the bass early on. Might just be 2 caps to swap on the board and would make this thong really legit. It is just too bass heavy

You can always try to make your own like I did for my Bman module. I made the design in GIMP, printed it out on vinyl sticker paper, and stuck it on the faceplate. Then shot a couple layers or rattle can clear coat on the front to protect the ink. If at some point you decide you don't want that look anymore the sticker peels right off without messing up the Synergy faceplate.

Originally I put it over the synergy faceplate. It was a little tricky to keep the sticker from wrinkling near the curved sides and bevel, but I got it to look fine. I did however make a new rectangular metal plate so it matched the shape of my old MTS modules better. The shape of the Synergy plate looked out of place sitting in my RM4 with my MTS modules.

Nice. I had a Lynch Box and cab years ago. Probably 2010. Wish I didn’t sell it. Been looking at the Synergy stuff because I always loved the idea. Do the modders still exist? Salvation, etc.?

I'm not sure what's going on with Antonin at Salvation. People say he's been hard to get ahold of about modules for a while. Then there's spurts where he'll do some for people or come out with something new, or even mod a Synergy module. The old MTS forum is kinda dead so it's hard to keep up with what Salvation is doing. His facebook is still active but he may go a month or two between posts and it's not always about modules. Maybe he just has a long turnaround time or times when he has to pause from taking new orders.

Rob at Jaded Faith is still going strong. He still has the Jaded Faith branding, but has mostly been operating under his repair shop name; The Amp Shop, if you want module mods. The JF200B in the pic I posted is a newer module that stemmed from my custom request. I asked Rob if he could do an Orange AD200B bass mod. Even though it's simple, I did the faceplate design for him too. Everything came out so good he decided to add it to his normal lineup. He also put his 59RR Custom mod back into rotation. He can still do pretty much any of his past mods you would want or custom requests, you just have to email and ask.

Extra note on Rob. He also has a boutique amp he designed/built under EVO Amps branding. When I talked to him about it before ordering one, he told me the design philosophy was combining all the knowledge he gained from 20 years of doing module mods. I think Rob favors American voiced amps as this is the camp I feel it sits in. Though with his Vari-Q mid circuit it can still get some mid forward British tones, just not quite the same as That Marshall kerang. Regardless it's an awesome amp and I like mine. I bought it in 2022 and it isn't not going anywhere.

Nice. Yeah I used to lurk around the MTS forum. Always favoured the Salvation stuff, but I'm not one for risk or long wait times. I'll check out The Amp Shop.

Fek, what are you thinking after a few days on the module?? I'm liking mine now. I still love the Brahma, but for sure the JMP module has more depth and def more sag and squish making it more authentic. Can't push the gain too much though but I really like VOL II bright cap set in the middle. That's a feature they probably should think about in their production line. I do think it is a tad bass heavy but that might be due to how fast the gain ramps up on the module.

I spent a few hours over the weekend with the JMP and I really like it. Much more different compared to the SLO/6505 than I expected it to be, which took some getting used to. I was using WAY more gain than I should have been using with the other modules!

Going to tweak some more tonight to get it even closer to where I want it. My ears were shot working with it on Saturday, and I have a much better feel for what it really is instead of what I thought it would be.
