My local store started carrying Mesa and he's an awesome guy who I enjoy doing business with and like to support. I have never played anything Mesa and don't even need an amp but am going to buy something from him. I think I'd like to get a 30 or 40 watt head that is versatile and will do 70's/80's rock and maybe even some country territory. Nothing metal needed. Probably get a 2x12 too. Does Mesa have something for my needs that is reliable?

Sounds like the Express, Transatlantic, Royal Atlantic or even the Mark series would work for you.

I've been watching videos of the TA-30 and am liking what I hear. It doesn't seem too complicated to dial in some good tones. Any reliability reports on these? Or any other Mesa reliability reports?

TA30, Express, and don't leave out the newer 25 watt Rectoverb. A lot more choices than I mentioned, go play some!!

That's one area you need not worry too much about, when looking at a Mesa. They have a reputation for being built like a tank. Much more so than a Marshall in comparison.

The T/A and R/A series would probably suit you really well.

Did he say what amps he is getting in stock first? I mean, what's the plan there.

If you are saying that you may have an influence on what he orders in then those amps, some Rectos and a Mark V need to be on the guys list.

He didn't say what was coming in first although I could find out. I am looking forward to doing some demoing though!

This store owner may change his attitude toward Mesa over time. Mesa has been thru two of my local shops and has left a bad taste in the mouths of both store owners. The amps are great but the business side of being a dealer isn't all roses.

Any stories or is it a find out for himself situation?

Well just a couple of things that's been relayed to me: (1) mixed inventory has to be ordered upfront and maintained over time, including slow sellers; (2) retail pricing is strictly enforced which means a no wiggle room for the store to deal or make a quick buck unless a trade is involved. I'm sure there's other rules but these two are what killed it at my local mom & pops.
