The fine folks at Seymour Duncan sent me a few prototypes of some brand new pickups they will be releasing very shortly. First up is the Nazgul. Click the "i" logo on teh video or go to the YouTube page to see the gear details.

This is a killer pickup and they ain't getting it back!

EDIT: New remixed video with bass track added.

Shit, that amp just sounds crushing. That's all. Love them clips. Keep em coming.

Oh sweet! Marked for later.
Just so happens that I was listening to your Warpig and Painkiller clips on Tonefinder earlier today.
What other pickups did SD send you?

Yes but how does it sound in a high gain context? ;) :D That tone is killer and your playing is killer and your TAG looks great and ... I could go on but yeah man love this vid. What cab? Speakers?

Jim

Your clips are always sound so incredible!!!! Nice job as always Jason

Wowsers! Love the clip and your TAG looks amazing!! Loved the lead tone at 2:20.

Sounds great (even if you have a typo on the fly in - ;) ). I'm definitely going to ask MJ if they will make a custom version in a 6 string p90 housing.

Man......That is crazy good!!!!! You seven stringers always amaze me, I have a hard enough time with six of em' :D !!!!!!!

Had to put on my 'phones, its really crushing with it being close mic'd. Would love to hear it in a room, bet you can really feel it. Whats the difference in the seymours vs what you had in there?
And that key change at 2:20 was sick.

Awesome as usual! How about a clip of the poor little chinese pcb JVM??

Has it fallen too low down the pecking order?

Thanks! I had an Anderson H3 in there and I liked it just fine. It is a lot smoother sounding than the Nazgul and just about every other pickup I have tried in that guitar (Aftermath, Warpig Ceramic, Manlius Asphalt Ceramic).

I know...that drives me crazy that it got past the editing crew. Um, I mean me.

Also got 2 different versions of a new pickup called Pegasus. Made for technical metal, fast picking type stuff.

Thanks, Jim! I appreciate that you listen to these clips. A lot of guys around here into the 80s stuff wouldn't and don't! Hair metal snobs! :D

The cab is a Fryette Fatbottom 412 w/V30s.

I still love that amp. Probably done with doing clips with it though. Then again, maybe not.

Still sounds great. Thing is the amp and guitar have so much low end I never really missed the bass in the first place. Oh and yes I am an "80s kid" to the core but do love Nevermore, Testament, Megadeth, etc... so I can get down with some Thrash.

Fuuuuck, that is sick brother! I'm loving the song and the clarity of that pickup!

Right on! The pickup is very clear for sure. I think of it as the nicest sledgehammer ever.

Oh man Jason.....that sounds freaking insane.
Watched all your clips thru the years....and to me this is my favorite by far.

Great clip. It does sound real tight. I would've liked to hear a little bit more solos, it sounded like this pickup is real good at responding to pick attack? How do you like it for playing solos?
