Thanks for the heads up ! He's been a busy guy. Looking forward to it.

He lives several houses down from me, maybe I'll run down there and see if he'll sell me one.

What are the best Vinnie Moore albums to start off with? I'm not too familiar with his playing.

The first one I got was "the maze", its seriously great dude, oddly enough I got it the same day I got the Loomis cd...listened to that once...then put Vinny back in for like 179 more times...

I'm listening to The Maze right now and it seems really cool so far. I don't care much for the Loomis album either.

I think the Nevermore albums are way better. Dead Heart In A Dead World and Dreaming Neon Black are where it's at IMO.

You could start with the same as me, Mind`s eye. I got it when it came out :D
It`s very neo-classical though. Time Odyssey and The Maze are also great.

The Maze is probably my fave of his.

Time Odyssey and Mind's Eye are his first two and are more neo-classical. Meltdown he completely did a 180 and was more "rock" sounding since it was on Relativity. It took me years to even accept that as a VM disc  but now I like it a lot. I think what I like about the Maze is it touches on all of his styles....that and the songs and playing are awesome.

Like everyone else has said "The Maze", which I guess you are already listening to; next would be Minds Eye.

I really like trying to learn his songs> I may be getting over my head theory-wise, but he creates a lot of interesting melodies out of simple diatonic patterns, which really help me learn. On the other hand, he always throws in some insanely fast passage that I have no chance of pulling off.

I'm excited about the new release. Although he has been busy with UFO, his solo releases are few and far between.

The second half of The Maze is awesome. Rain and In The Healing Garden rule.

I love Vinnie's 'Meltdown' album.. Man he fkn tears it up big time on that CD!! :2thumbsup:

+1 - I like the soloing on Mind's Eye probably the best of all his work. It's mired in the crappy "Shrapnel Mix" like most of those instrumental albums of the time.
