Specifically the AC15C1 and AC30C2 - anybody own one? The demos sound pretty good and they are pretty cheap - $599 for the AC15 and $999 for the AC30.

Just wondering if anybody owns one and has any thoughts to share.

A few demos:

The new Vox handwired amps have caught my eye. They are move should be officially released new month. http://www.voxamps.com/us/Handwired/

On the AC15 and AC30 customs, my biggest compliant is that the cabinets are MDF. I have heard they sound good though.

I would like to have one of those ac30s myself, very cool and the price is right as long as it does not blow up.

Didn't even know about those. They look pretty sharp

I suppose $1,599 isn't too bad considering what you get.

Dont get me wrong... I wouldnt like to see these HW heads made in China either, but we will have to see how their quality control goes with this one! I am excited about this amp, and really want one, but hope they dont have issues. Gotta love the handwired boards though... exciting shit for VOX!!!

That was alright... Im not into the AC15 as much as the AC30. I cant wait until they get a couple good recordings of the AC30! Thanks for that link... can you find one of the AC30 yet? Would be much appreciated if you did, my google search came up with nothing but preorder pages.

I can't seem to find one for the AC30HW2 either, but I sure am looking forward to hearing it

VOX not made in the UK...no thanks.

Are any of their amps still made in the UK?

To my knowledge, all are made in Asia. Last I knew their tube amps were made in China and their valvetronix series was either in Vietnam or China.

On a related note. Marshall has split with Vox/Korg. As some might remember, Vox amps in the '90s were made in the Marshall factory in the UK.

That's what I was thinking. I don't know what the price for one of these handwired amps would be if it were made in the UK, but I can't imagine it would be any less than double the price.

I've been looking to get a Brian May tone lately and was wanting to avoid the VOX route since they're Chinese made amps. Been looking at boutique VOX style amps and such but nothing really that I like. Personally I am thinking of just finding an older UK made amp. Most that I see are about the same price as these Custom Classics new. Just need to find one with blue alnicos.

Thats why Im so glad that I have an original VOX HW AC30 2x12 that was made in the UK... they were made back in 2003 I think. I will never part ways with that amp!!! Its one of the best sounding ones I have ever owned.

For clones check out the JMI amps or Valvetech Hayseed 30. If you want to stick with a UK made vox, try to find a AC30TBX or the AC30HW (handbuilt in the UK, limited run). Both will have Alnico blues that are made in the UK.

At least on these latest Vox amps they have switch the cone on the alnico blue back to what you get when you order a UK Celestion Alnico blue. They were using the a different (wrong) cone on the Vox china made Alnico blues, a number of people have been getting them reconed with the correct mueller cone.
